Fantastic Bethany Beach Hotels For Your Family Vacation

In the summer months, a beach vacation can be the perfect option for your family. Once you arrive, you won’t have to spend too much money on attraction admission – especially for a free public beach. In addition, many beach communities offer great family restaurants where you can enjoy a meal after a long day in the sun.

For those living in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States (or elsewhere on the East Coast), Bethany Beach Delaware is an ideal family destination. It’s a vibrant area, but also a relatively quiet area that is perfect for families. The highlight is the Bethany Beach Boardwalk, a small wooden boardwalk area that borders the free sandy beach.

Bethany Beach Ocean Suites Residence Inn

During my three-night visit, I stayed at the Bethany Beach Ocean Suites. This Residence Inn hotel has been newly renovated with new room decor, a renovated outdoor/indoor pool, and a brand-new restaurant.

Location of the Bethany Beach Ocean Suites (BBOS)

BBOS is located in a prime spot, right along the Bethany Beach Boardwalk. Once you park your car at the hotel, you’ll be able to walk to the beach and many shops, cafes, and restaurants. It’s the perfect place for your beach vacation. You’ll also find some great beach snacks, like ice cream, boardwalk fries, and popcorn.

Room Types

As the name implies, this hotel offers suite-style rooms. These spacious rooms have mini kitchens that can be really useful for a family vacation. You’ll be able to prepare food in your room, saving money on eating out. Most rooms also have a private balcony – some with great ocean views.

Studio Suites are available with one king bed or two queen beds. Most have a sofa bed as well as a balcony. Some of these rooms have a beach view, but some have a city view. All have kitchenettes with a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and range top.

One-bedroom suites have the same features as studio suites but also have a separate living area. These can be a great option if you want more space to spread out.

Oceanfront Suites have a separate living area and also have balconies that are facing the waterfront.

The One-Bedroom Presidential Suite is on the ground floor and has a separate living area and 1.5 bathrooms. These rooms are beachfront with a terrace.

The Executive Suite is a corner room located on a high floor. These rooms have a separate living area and an oceanfront view.

Amenities at Bethany Beach Ocean Suites

For families, the location and in-room kitchenettes are the biggest draw to this hotel. It’s located in a prime location that is perfect for families who may want to return to their room during their beach day. But, other fantastic amenities will appeal to families.

A newly renovated rooftop swimming pool is a great way to cool off if you don’t want to visit the beach. It’s an indoor-outdoor pool, located at the top of the main building. There’s also a small fitness center if you want to get some exercise in during your vacation.

A complimentary breakfast buffet is offered in the morning. In addition, free coffee and tea (including iced coffee) are provided in the hotel lobby for guests throughout the day. As someone who likes a mid-afternoon cup of coffee, I appreciated this perk.

A brand-new restaurant, Via Sophia by the Sea, opened at the hotel as part of the renovation It offers Italian and seafood specialties in an upscale environment. There’s also a beautiful bar as part of the restaurant. Guests can choose from either indoor or outdoor seating.

While I was visiting, the hotel offered complimentary kids’ activities in the afternoon. This included a juggler that was captivating the kids, as well as a face painter. A schedule is offered upon check-in.

There’s also a business center tucked behind the front desk. Free Wi-Fi is offered.

As a Residence Inn, this hotel is part of the Marriott Bonvoy program so you’ll be able to earn points if you are part of that program.

Hotel Bethany Beach

Another great option for families is the newly renovated Hotel Bethany Beach. This fun hotel used to be a Holiday Inn Express but was converted into an independent hotel.

This hotel is located a few blocks away from the beach, on Jefferson Bridge Rd. Although it’s not located directly on the beach, you are still able to walk there, making this a convenient location for families.

Room Types

There are several room types available at this hotel. Accessible rooms are also offered.

A King Suite offers a king bed with a sofa and a small desk.

Standard two-queen rooms are most popular with families. These rooms include two queen beds and a large chair.

The hotel also offers a family suite. This suite has a room with two queen beds and a large chair, as well as an open separate room with two twin beds. This is a great option for families looking for a little more space, or for larger families.
