Walt Disney World transforms into a wonderland of holiday celebrations starting right after Halloween. Between the Christmas decor at the parks and resorts to the beloved Candlelight Processional at EPCOT, you'll be able to experience the magic of the holidays regardless of where you visit at Walt Disney World. My favorite event, however, is the separate ticketed Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which takes place on select nights at the Magic Kingdom.

Guide to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party takes place from early November through right before Christmas each year. In 2025, the event runs on select nights from November 7th through December 21st. However, all of the 2025 events are sold out.
If you want to attend the party, it's best to keep an eye on the dates when tickets will go on sale. It's popular, so you'll want to purchase your tickets as soon as possible.
It's important to note that this is a separate ticketed event, and you'll need an event ticket to attend. Even if you have park tickets for the day, you'll need to purchase a party ticket for the date you want to attend.
The Magic Kingdom typically closes at 6 pm on party nights for day guests. However, party guests can enter the parks starting at 4 pm. You'll receive a wristband that indicates you've purchased a party ticket. The party officially starts at 7 pm and that's when all of the special events begin. Only those with a valid wristband can stay in the park past 6 pm.
The information below is based on my most recent party attendance in November 2025. Events and attractions can change each year and without notice.

Attractions During Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
If you like to experience the rides during a theme park vacation, you are in luck. Most popular attractions are open. While the Lightning Lanes are not offered during the party, the standby lines are typically shorter than on a traditional park day. We were able to ride TRON and Space Mountain with minimal lines once the party started.
Some of the rides have a special holiday-themed overlay. These rides include:
- Space Mountain
- Jungle Cruise
- Mad Tea Party
- Tomorrowland Speedway
- Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

Shows During Mickey's Very Christmas Party
There are several Christmas-themed shows during the party, and you'll need to attend the event to see them. They include:
- Mickey's Most Merriest Celebration: a stage show that takes place right in front of the castle
- Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade: a Christmas-themed parade. If you aren't interested, this is a great time to take advantage of shorter attraction lines
- Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show: find a sport along the hub to watch the show
- Disney Jr. Jingle Jam: taking place at Cosmic Rays, this show features popular Disney Jr. characters. We were dining at Cosmic Rays during this show, and the little kids seemed to be having a fun time.
- Club Tinsel: a dance party outdoors in Tomorrowland
- Frozen Holiday Surprise: takes place once a night and features characters from Disney's Frozen.

Character Greetings During Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
During Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, there are many character greetings throughout the Magic Kingdom. Some of the lines can get very long, so you'll want to go to these early if they are important to you (or wait until later in the evening when people start to leave).
Character greetings include:
- Santa Jack and Sally - this was the most popular character greeting during the party I attended
- Princess Elena of Avalor
- Winnie the Pooh characters
- Mirabel and Bruno
- Mickey and Minnie
- Mary Poppins
- Aladdin characters
- Moana
- Captain Jack Sparrow
- Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen
- Anna and Elsa
- Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
- Cinderella and Prince Charming
- Snow White and the Prince
- Peter Pan
- Belle
- Ariel and Prince Eric
- Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip
- Stitch

Special Food During the Event
Each year, specialty seasonal foods and drinks are offered at various locations. This year, I enjoyed the Holiday Turkey Burger offered at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. I prefer not to have a table-service meal during the party so I can try different food and snacks.
Special Treats at the Party
As you arrive at the party, you'll be handed a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party pamphlet with all of the information you need. In addition, each guest receives a complimentary Christmas tree ornament upon arrival.
Throughout the park, you'll find holiday treats. These include packaged cookies, hot chocolate, hot cider, and pretzels. If you have food allergies, you can ask a cast member for the allergy-friendly
Special Merchandise for the Party
Each year, special merchandise for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is sold only at the party. Merchandise varies each year but typically includes shirts, spirit jerseys, mugs, and Christmas ornaments.
This year, we went to a corner of the Emporium where items were sold. Wristbands had to be shown to enter that part of the store and purchase the limited-edition items.

Is it Worth it?
Wondering if it's worth it to attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? It is an expensive ticket, so you'll need to consider it.
In my opinion, it's worth it, because I'm willing to arrive early and stay late. If I were traveling with younger kids who tired early, I wouldn't find it as worthwhile. Think about how long you'll stay and what you can experience, then decide whether it's worth the extra money for a special event ticket.
Tips for Attending
- Purchase tickets early because the event sells out
- Arrive when admission opens for the party (at 4 pm) to take advantage of the full time in the parks
- If taking Disney transportation, leave with plenty of time to spare. During my recent time at the party, we waited a while for a Magic Kingdom bus at All-Star Sports because everyone was trying to get there at the same time
- Decide what is most important to you - characters, treats, attractions, and shows. Lines for characters can be long and may not be worth the wait if it isn't a priority
- Use mobile ordering as much as possible
- Mobile checkout can help you save time when shopping
