There’s a lot going on at Walt Disney World this year, so if you haven’t been lately, it’s time to book a return trip. From Pandora, the largest expansion in Disney’s Animal Kingdom history, to a new evening spectacular at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Here’s what’s new at Walt Disney World – what are you most looking forward to?
Disclosure: I’ve experienced many of these things during the Visit Pandora media trip, as well as the Disney Social Media Moms Conference. All opinions are my own.
What’s New at Walt Disney World
Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
There’s been a lot of buzz about the latest expansion at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and with good reason. It’s a pretty spectacular addition to the parks. We have a full review of Pandora: The World of AVATAR here. If you go, be sure to book your FastPass+ allocations for Flight of Passage, because the lines are very long.
Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom used to close early, which was a shame, because it’s such a fun park in the evening. There’s a brand-new evening show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Rivers of Light. It’s a beautiful show, and definitely worth seeing.
Paddlefish at Disney Springs
Disney Springs has recently undergone a wonderful expansion with some fabulous shops and restaurants. Paddlefish is one of the latest additions. Located in a steamboat, Paddlefish offers a menu loaded with delicious seafood. There’s also a rooftop level with seating available.
Happily Ever After at Disney’s Magic Kingdom
I was a big fan of the long running Magic Kingdom evening show Wishes, so I wasn’t sure what to expect with Happily Ever After. This new evening spectacular doesn’t disappoint, however. It features fireworks, music, and a castle projection show. The technology is truly amazing – I was so impressed with the show, and think that it’s a worthy successor to Wishes.
The Music of Pixar Live! A Symphony of Character at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Want to take a break from the parks? The Music of Pixar Live! A Symphony of Character is a fun new show taking place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It features a live orchestra as well as movie scenes and some of the most beloved Pixar characters. It’s a limited time show, so you’ll need to catch it soon.
Miss Adventure Falls at Typhoon Lagoon and Frozen at Blizzard Beach
The longest ride in the history of the Disney water parks has opened at Typhoon Lagoon. On Miss Adventure Falls, guests board a 4-person raft, on this family ride. If you are headed to Blizzard Beach, the Frozen Summer Games has returned through mid-August.
