It’s an exciting time for the Disney Parks! While I was cruising with Mickey on the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Parks made a number of anticipated announcements about some new things coming to the parks. Here’s an overview:
Star Wars Lands
After much speculation, it was officially announced that Star Wars-themed lands will be created in both Walt Disney World (at Hollywood Studios) and Disneyland. These lands will be 14 acres each, making them the largest single lands in both parks. Read more on the Disney Park Blog.
Toy Story Land
Fans of the Toy Story trilogy (soon to be a quadrilogy) will love the new Toy Story Land, a similar concept to the popular Cars Land at California Adventure in Disneyland Resort. Toy Story Land will be build in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort and will include a Slinky Dog roller coaster, an Alien Sorcerer ride, and an additional track on the existing, popular Toy Story Mania ride. Here’s some more info from the Disney Parks Blog.
The new Avatar-themed land that is opening in Disney’s Animal Kingdom now has an official name – Pandora – The World of Avatar. It’s expected to open in 2017. More details here.
Frozen Ever After
A while back, Walt Disney World announced a new attraction, Frozen Ever After, to replace the Maelstrom in the Norway Pavilion of Epcot. The new attraction will also include an area with an Elsa and Anna meet and greet (the princesses can currently be seen in the Magic Kingdom. An opening date has not yet been announced. See the artist rendering on the Disney Parks Blog.
One of my family’s favorite attractions is Soarin’ in Epcot. Even though we’ve seen it dozens of times, it’s a must-do every time we visit. Disney has just announced that a new movie, Soarin’ Around the World, will be debuting in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World sometime next year.
What change/addition are you most excited for?
