Years ago, I attended a press trip to Virginia Beach. This post contains affiliate links. A purchase or click-through one of these links may result in a commission that helps us run this site.
A few years ago, I traveled to Virginia Beach, Virginia for the first time, and really enjoyed it. While we didn’t have too much time to enjoy the beach, I really appreciated on hotel’s oceanfront location. It made for an absolutely beautiful view (the photo above was taken from my hotel room). While most tourists know about the main beach – the one with the boardwalk and resorts – Virginia Beach actually boasts three beaches within city limits. These three beaches combine to create a fabulous seaside vacation destination for families. While you are there, be sure to visit the brand-new Adventure Park at the Virginia Beach Aquarium. The aquarium was one of the highlights of my visit, and I’m sure the Adventure Park adds to the fun.
Here’s more information on the three beaches in Virginia Beach.
The Oceanfront Resort Area:
The beach that most people think of when they think of Virginia Beach, the oceanfront resort area starts with Croatan Beach to the south and ends with the North End beaches. Offering the famous three-mile boardwalk when guests can relax, enjoy the beach, ride bikes, and take a walk, most of the popular restaurants and hotels are located right in this oceanfront resort area. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Virginia Beach, and it was a great spot for a family vacation.
But there are two other beaches in Virginia Beach that families can enjoy – Sandbridge Beach and Chick’s Beach.
A more quiet beach located south of the oceanfront resort area, Sandbridge Beach stretches for five miles. Unlike the oceanfront resort area that is sprinkled with hotels and resorts, Sandbridge offers more seasonal home rentals. It’s also great for wildlife lovers – since it’s located near the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Pungo.
Chick’s Beach, which is popular in the summer, is surrounded by the Chick’s Beach neighborhood. It’s primarily a residential area, but offers several delicious dockside seafood restaurants.
Hotels in the area include the following. Be sure to check out the details of each hotel to find their exact location.
