If the beautiful leaves on the trees here in New England are any indication, winter is coming soon. Most families have several school vacations in the winter, starting with Christmas vacation. Although prices are typically higher in the winter months, the Caribbean is a great place for families to visit when the weather is cool. Here are several options for tropical getaways for families.
Atlantis, Paradise Island, the Bahamas
With a full water park, numerous pools, several beaches, and countless kids’ activities, Atlantis in the Bahamas is a great vacation destination for families. There are so many different things that families can do at Atlantis, and several different lodging options on property. Although it can be expensive, there are lots of different ways that you can save money at Atlantis.
Providenciales, Turks & Caicos
If you’ve seen pictures of Turks and Caicos, you probably already know how perfectly turquoise the water is. This picture-perfect location is also a great place for a low-key beach vacation with kids. There are lots of different resorts located right on the beach. During our Turks and Caicos family vacation, we stayed at the West Bay Club on Grace Bay Beach.
Although the beach is obviously a big draw, there are lots of other things to do with kids in Turks and Caicos, including the Caicos Conch Farm and lots of different water sports.
Grand Cayman, The Cayman Islands
I’ve been to Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands three times in the past few years, and each time I can’t believe how fabulous it is. It really is one of my favorite places in the world. Seven Mile Beach is such a gorgeous spot, and offers families the opportunity to do numerous water sports and see lots of different sea life. In addition to the activities, the food is delicious, with many different restaurants located across the island.
Years ago, I vacationed in Aruba with my husband, and enjoyed our week-long stay. Although I haven’t had the opportunity to return with my kids, it’s definitely a beautiful vacation destination. There are lots of family-friendly resorts located right on the beach – at a variety of different price points.
No passport? No problem, if you are planning a trip to Puerto Rico. I haven’t been there yet (it’s on my bucket list), but there are so many activities for kids.
Have you been to any of these locations? Where are you planning to go for Christmas, winter, or spring break this upcoming year?
Disclosure: I visited some of these destinations as part of various press trips.
