It’s officially autumn now, and a quick look out of office window confirms that the leaves are just starting to turn. Here in the Northeast, we won’t experience peak fall foliage until sometime next month, so there’s still time to book a great getaway for leaf peeping. Here are three Northeast hotels for fall foliage viewing:
New York State:
The Whiteface Lodge, is the perfect spot to experience fall foliage. I was there in the summer quite a few years ago, and can only imagine what this quaint but luxurious resort is like in the autumn. It features all-suites with fireplaces and cozy linens, along with access to lots of fall activities. Whiteface Lodge is currently offering a customizable Adirondack Experience Stay and Play Package, which includes a $100 credit for stays of two nights, or a a $300 credit for stays of three nights or more (plus a $100 credit for each additional night). These credits are redeemable on-property and off-property (for activities and adventures booked through the resort). Packages start at $550 per night and include full breakfast daily and access to all resort amenities and privileges, including, valet parking, pool, fitness center, game room, movie theater, and, on weekends, Kamp Kanu, the Lodge’s supervised children’s program.
Would you rather stay in New York City? Autumn is one of the best hotels in Manhattan – the weather is still great for walking around, but the holiday crowds haven’t yet arrived. Sofitel New York, a French-themed hotel in Midtown, is offering a Paris Weekend in New York package, which includes two nights’ accommodations for two (Friday through Sunday), a welcome amenity of two of Gaby Brasserie Française’s signature Franburgers, each served with a glass of Bordeaux, breakfast for two daily at Gaby, a pair of tickets to a cultural event at the French Institute Alliance Française, a pair of tickets to a burlesque show, and late checkout. It’s priced from $999 for a luxury king room, exclusive of taxes, fees and gratuities, and would be great for a getaway without the kids.
The Sea Crest Beach Hotel, one of my favorite fall spots, is located in Cape Cod’s North Falmouth. With a spot right on a private stretch of Old Silver Beach, it’s a beautiful hotel for a fall vacation.
