It’s almost summer – time for beach vacations, fun at the pool, and summer festivals. This summer features dozens of festivals throughout the US and Canada, including single-day and multi-day festivals. We searched for some of the best summer festivals for family travel and choose 16 of the best multi-day summer festivals across the countries. But even if you don’t want to travel, there’s probably a fabulous summer festival right in your own backyard.

Summer Festivals For Family Travel
Quebec City, Canada – Festival d’Ete de Quebec (July 5-July 15, 2018)
This 11 day festival features 8 stages and dozens of popular acts, including headlines Neil Young, the Weeknd, Lorde, and the Chainsmokers. Kids from age 0-11 are free if accompanied by an adult (limit of two children per adult). Tickets are general admission and do not guarantee admission to any particular show, because capacity is limited. Arrive early for the shows that you absolutely want to see.

Carver, MA – King Richard’s Faire (weekends Sept 1 – October 21, 2018)
King Richard’s Faire, New England’s largest and longest running Renaissance festival, runs from late summer into early fall. At the festival, you can enjoy entertainment, rides, food and more. With eight different stages, you’ll definitely find something to entertain you regardless of when you visit. The faire is open on weekends, as well as Labor Day and Columbus Day.

Copper Creek Farm – Calhoun, GA, Sunflower Festival (Fridays & Saturdays from June 15 – July 7, 2018)
This festival, which doubles as a fabulous photo opportunity, includes activities such as a wagon hayride, candy cannon, petting farm, kids’ zipline, mechanical bull, and more. Tickets can be purchased as a package that include specific activities.
Tickets start at $12.85 plus tax, and you can add on a bucket of sunflowers to your purchase.
Fort Wayne, Indiana – Three Rivers Festival (July 13-21, 2018)
Fort Wayne Indiana is home to a number of family-friendly festivals, including the Three Rivers Festival. This summer party, which has been running since the 60s, includes a parade, junk food alley, chalk walk, rides, fireworks, and art in the park. Drawing over half a million visitors per year, this festival is celebrating fifty years this year.
Lake Placid, NY – I Love BBQ and Music Festival – (July 6-8, 2018)
This annual event held in the Adirondacks includes the best BBQ competitors in the country and includes sampling opportunities, food and beverage concessions, children’s activities, and live entertainment. The I Love BBQ and Music Festival is alcohol-free and is organized by the US Olympic luge team.
Long Beach, California – Dew Tour (June 28-July 1, 2018)
Celebrate the world’s best skateboarders, snowboarders, skiers, artists, and more. The festival includes lots of fun activities including a craft beer and food festival, a custom-made bar, live art competition, an autograph session, a public skatepark and skate lessons.
Chester County, PA – Balloon Festival (June 22-June 24th, 2018)
The Chester County Balloon Festival is a family-friendly festival taking place in the Brandywine Valley in Chester County PA. Events include a Friday Night Glow, a kids’ zone, crafts, fireworks, tethered balloon rides, live music, and food.
Ludlow, Vermont – Okemo Mountain Resort’s All Come Home Music Festival (July 12-14, 2018)
The Okemo Mountain Resort’s All Come Home Music Festival includes two different stages with several different tribute bands. In addition to the music, families can enjoy the various activities at the mountain including the mountain coaster, zipline tour, bungee trampoline, disc golf and more.

Washington DC – DC Jazz Festival (June 8-17th, 2018)
There are a number of festivals taking place in Washington DC, including the annual DC jazz festival. While the whole event features a number of fabulous jazz performers, there’s also the Jazz n’ Family Fun Days, which takes place before the festival on June 2-3rd. It includes free shows for all ages at The Phillips Collection.
Syracuse, NY The Great New York State Fair (August 22nd – September 3rd, 2018)
This huge state fair, taking place in Syracuse, NY, features a midway with rides, nightly concerts, animal shows, and delicious food and drink.
Keystone, CO – Kidtopia Stars and Guitars (June 29-July 3, 2018)
This new festival at Keystone will feature live mountaintop music, fireworks, daily activities and more. Attend on July 1st, and see GRAMMY® Award-winning Okee Dokee Brothers. Daily activities include camp night, stars and s’mores and more. See their specific daily schedule for details.
