Disclosure: I experienced the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as a Disney Parks Moms Panelist. All opinions are my own.
Heigh Ho! Guests to Walt Disney World will soon get to experience a brand-new roller coaster in New Fantasyland. Opening May 28th, 2014, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the perfect coaster for families. I had the chance to experience it several times this past week during a press event, and it absolutely didn’t disappoint.
The Mine Train is located right in the center of New Fantasyland, and its opening will complete the largest expansion ever at the Magic Kingdom. Built to look just like the mine train cars in the animated film, the coaster cars take guests on a thrilling ride. When the ride opens, guests will have the option of making advance FastPass+ reservations or using the standby line. While the standby line is sure to be long, guests will be entertained with an interactive queue which includes a jewel sorting touch-screen game along with other surprises.
If you are familiar with the other coasters at Walt Disney World, this one falls between Goofy’s Barnstormer and Thunder Mountain in terms of thrills. The attraction starts out fast with a few drops before entering the mine. The audio-animatronic technology of the dwarfs is truly amazing – they are completely realistic. After hearing some fun music from the film, guests exit the mine side by side with the shadows of the dwarfs (again, just like the film!). That’s when the real thrills begin! But the Mine Train technology, which also makes the cars rock from side to side, allows for a completely smooth ride. The immersive experience is most like that in Thunder Mountain. The ride ends adjacent to Snow White’s cottage, where she dances with the dwarfs unaware of the evil queen lurking outside.
The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is sure to become an instant Disney classic. If you are traveling to Walt Disney World after the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train opening date of May 28th, be sure to get a FastPass+ so you can experience it!
