During my recent trip to Quebec City for the Festival d’Ete de Quebec, the festival booked me at the Hilton Quebec. This modern, family-friendly hotel, located right outside the walls of Old Quebec, is in a great location for a family vacation. Its modern style and amenities are a nice contrast with the charm and atmosphere of Old Quebec. Here’s my review of the Hilton Quebec in Quebec City.

Review of the Hilton Quebec in Quebec City
Location of the Hilton Quebec
The Hilton Quebec is located a block from the gates at Old Quebec. It’s on a hill, so the room views are absolutely beautiful if you have a room with a view. It’s about a 15 minute walk down to the Dufferin Terrace and the Chateau Frontenac, with lots of shops and cafes on the way. Each morning during my stay, I enjoyed a brisk walk around town, exploring the various shops and sites.
If you are flying into the Jean Lasage Airport in Quebec, the ride is about 20-25 minutes to the hotel. Cabs and Ubers are available at the hotel if you aren’t renting a car. If you are planning to spend most of the time in Old Quebec, you probably won’t need a car. We typically don’t have one.
Keep in mind that while you’ll walk down to the Dufferin Terrace, it’s a bit of a climb back up to the hotel. It’s not really a strenuous walk, but you will want to pack comfortable shoes that will work well on cobblestones and up hills.
Rooms at the Hilton Quebec
The Hilton Quebec offers 23 floors, with lots of different room types and views. Be sure to review the different options before booking because you’ll need to choose the exact room type/view that you want. Options include rooms with double beds, queen beds, and king beds. Room view options include downtown city views, old Quebec river views, panoramic corner room views, and parliament views. I absolutely loved the views from my room, and often just stood looking out the window.
Of course, if you don’t plan to spend much time in the room, it may not be worth spending extra money on a good view. Think about how much time you’ll spend in your room before booking.
Room amenities at the Hilton Quebec include a large desk, comfortable beds, blackout curtains, a tea/coffee maker, and a hairdryer. Complimentary WiFi is available if you are a (free) Hilton Honors member. The rooms are a nice size, and are modern and comfortable. The hotel really is a nice modern complement to the old city.
Amenities at the Hilton Quebec
While you are likely to spend much of your vacation time exploring Quebec City, there are still some great amenities at the resort. On the 3rd floor, you’ll find an outdoor, heated pool. This is pretty unique in the city – most of the hotels in Old Quebec that have pools offer indoor pools. Around the pool, there’s a bar and some chairs so you can enjoy the summer weather. I know my kids would love to visit the pool after a long day of sightseeing.
There’s also a fitness center, a business center, a concierge, a small convenience store, and meeting facilities. It’s a great spot for a business trip, a conference, or a family trip.
Restaurants at the Hilton Quebec
The Hilton Quebec City offers two restaurants, Allegro and Le23. Le23 is typically open only for two hours each day during lunch time. It offers a small lunch (brunch on Sundays) buffet. But the real draw here is the gorgeous views of the city (see photo above). It’s absolutely worth eating there just to enjoy the views.
I ate at Le23 for one lunch because I wanted to experience that gorgeous view. The food was good, but it’s definitely a small selection.
There’s also Allegro, which is located in the lobby. Allegro offers breakfast and dinner, as well as a bar. My stay included a complimentary continental breakfast, and it was the perfect light start to the day.
There are numerous other restaurants and bars located all around the Hilton Quebec. Many of these are on the Grande Allee, which is about a block away from the hotel. Here are some of our favorite restaurants in Quebec City.
The Hilton Quebec is a great spot for your Quebec City family vacation. It’s in a great location, has gorgeous views, and families will enjoy the outdoor pool in the warmer months.
