Since I live in Boston, I’ve traveled for overnight trips in Manhattan more times than I can count. I’ve stayed in many, many different hotels – large chain hotels and smaller boutique hotels. One thing that most New York hotels have in common is the notoriously tiny hotel rooms. Often you can barely shimmy around the bed to get to the bathroom. But, that’s not the case at the Hilton New York, located right in Midtown Manhattan. It’s not only a nice, large hotel, it’s also centrally located for your New York family vacation.
Review of the Midtown Manhattan Hilton – the Hilton New York
I’ve stayed at the Hilton New York twice now – both for the annual BlogHer conference. Since I typically have a roommate at BlogHer, it’s important that the room is large enough for two adults to move around comfortable for three or four days. I’ve been pleased with the two rooms I’ve had at the Hilton New York – they are pretty much the same size as hotel rooms in other cities.
Location of the Hilton New York Midtown
The Hilton New York is located on the corner of 53rd and 6th, in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. It’s a great location for most sightseeing in New York – it’s close to the subway and walking distance to many locations. It’s also pretty easy to get a cab, with lots of doormen working the 6th Avenue entrance. The LimoLiner from Boston to NYC stops right at the Hilton New York, which makes it the perfect hotel.
Rooms at the Hilton New York Midtown
The Hilton New York offers several different room types, including standard rooms and suites. Rooms have a workspace, clock radio, flat-screen television, arm chair, WiFi, and more. The hotels are great for business travelers, but are also large enough to accommodate families.
Amenities at the Hilton New York Midtown
The hotel offers a full fitness center and business center, as well as a lounge, a bar, a restaurant, and a Starbucks. It also has some major conference facilities. The only negative to the hotel that I witnessed was the elevators. During the BlogHer conference, the elevators were backed up, but I don’t know if it was related to BlogHer or if it’s a standard situation at the hotel.
If you do stay there, make sure you stop by the popular Halal Guys cart on 53rd and 6th. You’ll recognize it by the huge line – but don’t be intimidated. It’s worth it!
