A Review of the Centrally Located Bostonian Hotel in Boston, MA

A review of the Bostonian Hotel, previously the Millennium Bostonian Hotel, located in the heart of Boston overlooking Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

Living in the Boston suburbs, we don’t often get the opportunity to stay in downtown Boston hotels. It’s usually not worth the cost for us to stay when we can drive just a short distance home. But there are so many wonderful places to stay in Boston, and it can definitely make visiting the many attractions of Boston so easy.

Over the Christmas break, we decided to do a New England family road trip and spent one night at the Bostonian Hotel (formerly the Millennium Bostonian Hotel), a boutique hotel located in the most perfect location – right across from the world-famous Faneuil Hall. We loved our stay, and my kids were begging to stay another night.

Disclosure: We received a complimentary night stay at the Bostonian Hotel at no cost for review. All opinions are my own.

Review of the Bostonian Hotel in Boston, MA

The Bostonian Hotel, which dropped Millennium from its name (but retained the affiliation), offers 204 guest rooms in a variety of configurations. We arrived and were greeted by the helpful valets who parked our car. Thanks to the fantastic location, we didn’t need the car again until we left.

If you are visiting the Bostonian Hotel, you may not need a rental car if you are planning activities right in the city. Public transportation in Boston is pretty easy, so you can always rely on that rather than a car rental.

The Lobby of the Bostonian Hotel

Since it was a few days after Christmas, the cozy and inviting lobby was still decorated for the holidays. The lobby is definitely a warm place to gather – there are several couches, a fireplace, books, and games that can be borrowed.

In the morning, the lobby offered complimentary coffee, and in the evening, they had some hot chocolate available. It was a nice touch after we spent the chilly December day exploring the city. We checked into our rooms and headed up the elevator.

The Rooms at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel

A Double Bed Room at the Bostonian Hotel

Often, you sacrifice room size when you have an incredible city location, but that isn’t the case with the Bostonian Hotel. The rooms have lots of space and include either a king bed or two double beds. Fireplace suites with real wood fireplaces are also offered. Complimentary WiFi is offered at the hotel.

Some of the rooms have small Juliet balconies, while all have a great view. However, with this location, you probably won’t be spending too much time in your room. It’s a great home base for your Boston family vacation, and I’d definitely recommend spending most of the time walking around the city exploring rather than sitting in your room.

Rooms offer a large desk, comfortable beds, bathrobes, a mini bar, a coffee maker, and lots of space. Guests aren’t able to put personal items in the mini bar fridge (because they are filled with mini-bar products), but a mini fridge is available upon request and based on availability.

A member of the housekeeping staff saw my husband looking for ice, and offered to bring a fridge to us – such great service! Rollaway beds (an additional fee applies) and cribs are offered.

The Amenities at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel

The Millennium Bostonian Hotel offers a variety of amenities that are fantastic for families. A concierge in the lobby can assist with ideas of things to do in Boston with kids, as well as restaurant recommendations and reservations. The hotel offers a small fitness room, which will be upgraded with new equipment this spring.

There are also plenty of meeting and conference facilities, with a gorgeous ballroom, as well as business center facilities. A full-service restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner is located right off the lobby. Twenty-four-hour room service is available.

While I really liked all of the amenities at the resort, the great location is really a fantastic benefit to this resort. The hotel is located right across the street from the Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market area and is just a very short walk from the North End, Boston Harbor waterfront, Long Wharf, the Freedom Trail, the New England Aquarium, and the financial district.

The Ask Alfred Amenity at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel

For families traveling with kids, the Bostonian Hotel is offering the Ask Alfred amenity. It can be purchased for an additional fee and includes an Alfred cinch bag, 12 Ask Alfred Color Me collectible postcards, Alfred stackables, a coloring activity book with triangle crayons, and an exclusive Ask Alfred teddy bear (items may vary).

Love Boston and love Fanueil Hall. I would SO LOVE to stay here with my family this summer on our way to Maine - it's an annual trip for us, and we try to stop on the way and do fun things. Thanks for the tip!
