Despite my frequent travel, I’ve never been to Las Vegas and have never stayed in a casino hotel. Last week, I attended Travel Media Showcase in Lake Charles, Louisiana and stayed at the L’Auberge Casino Resort. Although they do have a fabulous casino, there’s also so much for families to do.
L’Auberge offers a variety of room types, including suites and pool view rooms. My room, which overlooked the pool, was incredibly comfortable and had everything I needed. Although it did face the pool, it was on the 14th floor and was very quiet. Housekeeping was especially impressive – I’ve never had a room cleaned so efficiently. Rooms offer complimentary WiFi, although a faster internet service is available for an additional fee.
The pool area is definitely the highlight for kids. It features a gorgeous lazy river, as well as a few pools. Pool chairs were hard to come by when I was there – if you are planning to spend the day, you may want to consider renting one of the cabanas that are offered for an additional fee. There’s also a small beach on the lake.
I only visited two of the restaurants while I was there, but there are lots of options, including a steakhouse, Asian restaurant, buffet, and deck bar. You definitely don’t have to leave the property at all.
L’Auberge Lake Charles also offers loads of entertainment options throughout the year. While I was there, an 80s cover band performed by the pool for an evening performance. National acts also perform there – there’s a full entertainment schedule on their website. There’s also a golf course, numerous shops, a full-service spa, and of course, the casino.
Service at the L’Auberge Casino Resort was excellent. From the front desk staff to the casino security, everyone was friendly and helpful. To learn more about L’Auberge, visit their website.
