Despite my frequent travel, I’ve never been to Las Vegas and have never stayed in a casino resort. Last week, I attended Travel Media Showcase in Lake Charles, Louisiana and stayed at the L Auberge Lake Charles Casino Resort.
Although they do have a fabulous casino, there’s also so much for families to do at the resort. If you are planning to travel to the Lake Charles area (or want to do a staycation), the L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles is a fabulous hotel option.
Review of the L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles, LA
Location of the L’Auberge Lake Charles Casino Resort
The L’Auberge Lake Charles Casino Resort is located in the Louisiana town of Lake Charles. It’s accessible through the small Lake Charles Regional Airport. There are also bus options from various locations in the area, including Galveston, Texas.
Amenities at the L’Auberge Casino Resort
In my opinion, the real draw at this casino hotel resort is the amenities that are offered. You don’t even need to leave the property to have a great time.
The L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana has a number of amenities. These include the casino, the Spa du Lac, a barber, a Tom Fazio golf course, an arcade, business center, and a fitness center (in the spa).
However, the pool area is definitely the highlight for kids. It features a gorgeous lazy river, as well as a few swimming pools. There’s even a swim up bar right in the lazy river.
During my conference, I had some free time, and enjoyed floating in the lazy river for a few hours. It was hot in August, so the lazy river felt so refreshing.
Pool chairs were hard to come by when I was there – if you are planning to spend the day, you may want to consider renting one of the cabanas that are offered for an additional fee. Or, it may be a good idea to arrive early to claim your spot. I was there in the late afternoon, which was probably the most busy time.
There’s also a small beach on the lake. An adult pool is available for adult guests traveling without kids. That’s a nice option for something a bit quieter.
Although I traveled solo for this trip (without my kids), I didn’t actually visit the casino. We had lots of evening activities for the conference, so I really didn’t have time. It did look pretty amazing through, so if that’s something you’d want to do during your trip, it’s definitely a great option.
Rooms at the L’Auberge Casino Resort
L’Auberge offers a variety of room types, including suites and pool view rooms. My room, which overlooked the pool, was incredibly comfortable and had everything I needed.
Although it did face the pool, it was on the 14th floor and was very quiet. Housekeeping was especially impressive – I’ve never had a room cleaned so efficiently. That’s especially helpful when traveling with kids, because you’ll want the room to be cleaned when you are away from the room.
Rooms offer complimentary WiFi, although a faster internet service is available for an additional fee. I found the complimentary WiFi to work just fine. You’ll also find a coffee maker with coffee, flat screen televisions, and complimentary bottled water. There was recently a new resort fee implemented, so keep that in mind when booking your stay.
Restaurants at L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles
I only visited two of the restaurants while I was there, but there are lots of options for any type of palate. These include the following:
- Le Beaucoup Buffet, offering lunch and dinner during the week and breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the weekends
- Asia, offers lunch and dinner, including sushi and Asian fusion cuisine
- Ember Grille & Wine Bar – an upscale steakhouse with a large wine list
- Jack Daniels Bar and Grill, featuring Chef Lyle Broussard and 35 flat screen televisions. I had appetizers and drinks during one of the nights of my stay, and I loved the food and atmosphere.
- Favorites Southern Kitchen, offering breakfast and dinner
- Modern Pantry, open 24 hours and offering coffee, pastries, and quick bites (great for a quick snack or breakfast)
- Room service and a deck bar are also offered
You definitely don’t have to leave the property at all if you don’t want to. There’s so much right there.
Entertainment at L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles
L’Auberge Lake Charles also offers loads of entertainment options throughout the year. While I was there, an 80s cover band performed by the pool for an evening performance. National acts also perform there – there’s a full entertainment schedule on their website so you can coordinate your stay with something you’d like
Service at the L’Auberge Casino Resort was excellent. From the front desk staff to the casino security, everyone was friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay there, and would definitely want to return with my family.
