Red Jacket Mountain View Kahuna Laguna Water Park

Originally published in 2011, updated in 2019

Earlier this year, the Red Jacket Resorts invited my family to visit the resort of our choice for a weekend getaway. There are several locations of the Red Jacket – including locations in Cape Cod and one in North Conway.

I’ve been wanting to check out Kahuna Laguna, the largest indoor water park in New Hampshire, which is located in the Red Jacket Mountain View. Because of that, we chose the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort to visit for our review.

Disclosure: We received a complimentary stay at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort. All opinions are my own.

Location of the Red Jacket Mountain View

The Red Jacket Mountain View resort is located in North Conway, NH, with beautiful views of the White Mountains. If you are planning to visit the family-friendly activities in the North Conway area, it’s a great location.

You’ll be located close to the North Conway Village, Settlers’ Green Village, Attitash, and Story Land. It’s really centrally located within the Mt. Washington Valley.

Rooms at the Red Jacket Mountain View

Our room was an alcove room, which meant that it was a standard two-double bed room with a “secret room” – an alcove with a double bed for the kids, and a sliding door for privacy. It was perfect for us because our kids generally go to bed before we do. They just loved their secret room too – it was a total novelty for them.

In addition to the alcove rooms, there are other room types offered, including family suites, whirlpool rooms, lofts, pet-friendly rooms, and vacation homes. If you need or want more space for your family, there are definitely plenty of options.

You can also choose to upgrade to a mountain view room for gorgeous views of Moat Mountain. As the name indicates, the Red Jacket Mountain View overlooks the Moat Mountains and does have spectacular views especially in the during fall foliage season. Regardless of the season, however, the views in New Hampshire are spectacular.

Cots and cribs are available for the rooms. These are offered for an additional fee based upon availability.

The Red Jacket Mountain View is a pet friendly hotel. There are limited pet friendly rooms, and a fee applies. Call the resort in advance to make sure that your reservation is in one of these dog friendly rooms.

In 2019, the hotel underwent a renovation of all 150 guest rooms. They were updated with a clean, modern decor, new showerheads, new bedding, flat-screen televisions, more USB outlets, among other improvements.

Kahuna Laguna North Conway Indoor Water Park

Kahuna Laguna – North Conway Indoor Water Park

The highlight of the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort is a Kahuna Laguna, a North Conway indoor water park. This water park, the largest indoor water park in New Hampshire, is 40,000 square feet, and is so much fun. It was recently ranked in the top 10 of indoor water parks for families in the United States.

While this water park was initially only open to guests of the resort, day passes are now offered for locals and for non-resort guests. These passes are sold for a specific day, so you’ll want to book in advance to ensure availability for your preferred day.

A separate admission fee does apply, although the resort offers package deals. Because of that, it doesn’t get overly crowded, which makes it much more fun for families.

We visited Kahuna Laguna in the afternoon of our second day there, and my kids absolutely loved it. There’s plenty of staff watching everyone, which keeps everything under control. We also found that the staff was very friendly.

My son loved the water tower, while my daughter had a blast riding the water slides with daddy. They could easily have visited the waterpark everyday – they just loved it!

The Kahuna Laguna Indoor water park features the following:

  • A water slide tower with 2 body slides and 2 tube slides
  • The Wiki Wave pool
  • The Bamboo Bay Adventure Center – a play tower with a tipping bucket
  • A splash pad
  • The Little Kahuna play area for young kids
  • Kahuna basketball court
  • Hot tub
  • There’s also a cafe and arcade within the water park

Other Amenities at the Red Jacket Mountain View

The Red Jacket Mountain View Resorts also offers some great kids’ activities, including s’more making and storytime. There was a schedule in the lobby when we arrived with all of the activities that were offered during our stay.

There are other amenities offered by the resort, including complimentary WiFi, and a game room. There’s also an outdoor pool that is open in season.

In the summer and during school vacation weeks, the resort charges a resort fee. This covers things like activities and programming at the hotel.

If you’d like to eat on property, there are several options. Champney’s Restaurant is open for breakfast, brunch, and dinner, while Palmer’s Red Ridge Grille serves lunch and dinner. There’s also a poolside bar at the outdoor pool that is open during the summer months, and the Tiki Tide Cafe in the Kahuna Laguna indoor water park.

If you are interested in visiting the water park during your stay, definitely look at the various package deals that are available from the resort. Some package options include water park tickets and breakfast, an unlimited water park visit package, and a free water park package (typically offered mid-week during the off season). Package deals can definitely vary, so be sure to check their website to see what’s offered during your stay.

While you are staying at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort, you’ll have a lot of activity options beyond the hotel. Families with young kids visiting in the summer should definitely visit Story Land, a popular theme park for little ones. With a fairy tale theme and fun rides and attractions, Story Land is popular spot for elementary-aged kids.

Families with older kids may want to visit the Attitash Mountain Ski area. In the summer, there are lots of fun activities including a mountain coaster, alpine slide, ziplining, and water slides.

There are other things to do right near the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort. Across the street is Lickety Splitz, which is a fun place to get ice cream. There are also several mini golf courses in the area, which can be fun for families.

If you don’t mind taking a drive, the Kancamagus Highway is a short distance away. It’s a beautiful scenic roadway, and it will take you to Lincoln New Hampshire where you’ll find Franconia Notch State Park and other family attractions.

In total, there are six resorts in the Red Jacket Resorts family. In addition to the North Conway location, there are five in Cape Cod, MA. These include four in South Yarmouth (the Riviera Beach Resort, the Red Jacket Beach Resort, the Blue Water Resort, and the Blue Rock Resort). There’s also one in West Yarmouth (the Green Harbor Resort).

This sounds AWESOME! We LOVE the White Mountains - we used to live in Maine, and would visit Conway & Mt Washington several times a year for hiking & sightseeing. Thanks for the recommendation! :)
