Thanksgiving is such a great time to travel. If you don’t have family plans, Thanksgiving is the perfect time to get away for a long weekend, especially if your kids are in school. There are lots of great places to travel to for Thanksgiving. If you haven’t planned Thanksgiving travel yet, here are some hotels that are offering meals and/or activities especially for the holiday. Places to Travel to For Thanksgiving
The Gaylord Opryland in Nashville is offering several different Thanksgiving meals (book directly with the hotel). In addition, the resort will be hosting their popular ICE! event throughout the holidays. This is a great place to visit because there are so many restaurants and activities located throughout the resort – you really don’t even need to leave.
The Hotel Viking, located in the heart of Newport, RI, is offering a few different Thanksgiving options, including an ala carte menu and a buffet. Check out the full menus at the Hotel Viking’s website. Combine your stay with a visit to the Newport Mansions – some of which are open limited hours in the holiday season.
Enjoy some warmer weather and visit the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort and Spa. They are offering a Thanksgiving feast in the Grand Bahama Ballroom for a fest that is including traditional holiday favorites. If you are planning to stay, check out the Home Away From Home for the Holidays package, which includes overnight accommodations for four (based on a two-night minimum stay), daily buffet breakfast at McCoy’s Oceanfront, a special delivery of a gingerbread house kit for in-room family fun, Kids Club access for one-half day for up to two children, a 15 percent discount on all regular priced treatments at SiSpa, and a Shopper’s Savings Book courtesy of The Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale.
Another option is Marriott Singer Island’s Suite Holidays by the Beach package, which provides families with accommodations in a newly renovated suite will a full kitchen, living room, private balcony and washer/dryer, a cookie decorating welcome amenity for some holiday fun, a $50 gift certificate to use at the resort’s award-winning seaside sanctuary, SiSpa, Kids Club access for one-half day for up to two children, and a complimentary beach setup for one full day. The package requires a two-night minimum stay.
The resort is offering a series of Thanksgiving meals, including a Thanksgiving breakfast buffet, a Thanksgiving Grand brunch buffet, and a Thanksgiving dinner feast.
We loved our stay at the Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid, and it would be a great place for a Thanksgiving stay. The resort is offering several options for families who want to celebrate the holiday.
If you’d prefer to dine privately, the Thanksgiving In-Suite is a great alternative to a restaurant meal. It serves six people and including a full meal, plus packing and storage of leftovers. Meals are priced at $275 plus tax and gratuity and are delivered between noon and 2pm on Thanksgiving.
In addition, KANU, the lodge’s restaurant, is also serving a three-course Thanksgiving dinner, with an option for kids. They are also offering a complimentary Thanksgiving Holiday Breakfast Buffet for guests.
The Sea Crest Beach Hotel, located on Cape Cod in Falmouth, MA, is offering a Grand Thanksgiving Day Buffet with views of the beach. Guests can also take advantage of the resort’s indoor pool, hot tub, and fitness centers.
The Lido Beach Resort in Sarasota, FL will be offering a delicious Thanksgiving meal including a raw bar, smoked seafood display, international cheese display, and more.

The Resort at Longboat Key Club is offering two different Thanksgiving meals. At the Harbourside Ballroom, guests can enjoy traditional Thanksgiving entrees, a raw bar, a dessert station and more. There will also be an on-site photographer.
