I’ve had great experiences with Omni Hotels, so I was really looking forward to checking out the Omni Dallas Hotel during the Family Travel Conference. Thankfully, the brand-new Omni Dallas Hotel (opened 11-11-11) did not disappoint at all.
My great experience started when I checked in to the hotel. Like the Disney Fantasy, the Omni Dallas Hotel utilizes a green electricity system so you have to leave your guest card in a slot by the door in order to activate the lights and television. I actually prefer this – it keeps my card safe and ensures that I don’t waste electricity. I was also greeted by a welcome message on the television – a nice touch.
My hotel room, a queen/queen bed room, was extremely comfortable. It had huge windows with a great view of the city, a large, expansive desk with lots of plugs, a chair/table sitting area, and two comfortable beds. The bathroom was especially luxurious, including one of the coolest amenities I’ve ever seen – a television embedded into the bathroom mirror. It was great to watch television while getting ready in the morning.
The amenities at the Omni Dallas Hotel are fabulous. Like all Omni Hotels, you can sign up for the Select Guest program and receive complimentary WiFi, shoe shine, and morning beverage. While there is a coffee machine in the room, there’s nothing better than waking up with a fresh cup of coffee that I didn’t have to make.
I was there for the conference, but did get to sneak out to the gorgeous zero-entry fourth-floor outdoor pool for a bit. The pool area includes a hot tub and outdoor bar as well. I could definitely see spending hours at the pool if I had more time.
There were also a few celebrity sightings at the hotel – not by me, but by other conference participants. It definitely seems like the place to be in Dallas, and I’d definitely plan to return if I’m ever in Dallas again.
