Last month, for a business trip in NYC, I had the opportunity to stay in the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park for an overnight. I was without kids, and it was one of my most luxurious hotel stays ever. The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, as the name suggests, is located directly adjacent to Central Park. The photo below was taken from one of the hotel suites – it really is that close!
Disclosure: I didn’t personally pay for my stay because it was part of an unrelated trip. All opinions are my own.
Luxurious Stay at the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park
Surprisingly, the facade of the hotel is relatively nondescript. My cab actually drove by it the first time. Valets are in front of the hotel (parking is $70 per night with no in/out privileges), but they were all busy when I arrived. My room wasn’t ready when I arrived, but since it was after check in time, the front desk manager offered me a complimentary drink in the lounge while they resolved the small issue. Within five minutes, everything was settled and I was given my room key.
As you’d expect, my room was absolutely beautiful. I had a corner room with a courtyard view, and the room was much larger than I expected (according to their website, the hotel rooms are 425-450 square feet). My bathroom had a soaking tub and stall shower in an enormous space – much larger than most hotel bathrooms, even outside of NYC. Despite the location, my room was absolutely quiet. It’s a great spot for a restful night, whether you are traveling on vacation or on a business trip.
Rooms at the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park feature feather duvets and beds, along with a choice of several types of pillows. The rooms also include lighted mirrors, scales, Asprey bath amenities, bathrobes, minibar, flat-screen television, WiFi (additional fee), and DVD players. Rooms with park views also offer telescopes and bird-watching books.
While the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park does have a restaurant along with a lounge, I decided to order room service for dinner and breakfast. In both cases, delicious food was delivered quickly and cheerfully – but it certainly isn’t the cheapest food option. There are also many restaurants and coffee shops located just minutes away. If you have time, there’s also a La Prairie spa located in the hotel.
The service at the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park is excellent. From the front desk staff to room service to bartenders, everyone is very friendly and helpful. For a luxury stay in NYC, this is definitely one of my top choices.
