As a foodie, I’ve frequently heard about the White Barn Inn in the same breath as the famous French Laundry, a Napa Valley restaurant that I had the privilege to visit back in 2003. Since the White Barn Inn is much closer to my Massachusetts home, I’ve always wanted to visit, and I finally had the opportunity earlier this month.
The White Barn Inn isn’t the most kid-friendly destination, so my two little ones stayed with grandma and grandpa for the weekend, and my husband and I drove the approximately 2 hours from Boston to Kennebunkport, Maine. Upon arrival, it’s immediately apparent how different the White Barn Inn is from other country inns. From the valets meeting us at the front door, to the fabulous front-desk service, we felt very pampered.
The White Barn Inn Kennebunkport Review
Our room, the deluxe queen, was comfortable and luxurious. The bed was among the most comfortable I’ve experienced, and the fresh fruit and flowers in the room were a nice touch. The highlight of the deluxe queen room is the luxurious bathroom – complete with heated floors, a soaking tub, and the most comfortable shower ever. The inn offers complimentary WiFi, breakfast in the morning, and port/brandy in the living room throughout the day.
On Saturday, we were treated to the four-course tasting menu, with some of the best food ever. And, yes, it does certainly rival the French Laundry. The highlights for me were the lobster entree and the cheese course, but every single bite tasted fabulous. We opted for the wine pairing, which was not comped, but was certainly the perfect touch for a wonderful meal. Read more about the tasting menu at the White Barn Inn here.
The White Barn Inn is definitely the perfect New England destination for a romantic getaway, and we will absolutely be back! See more reviews on TripAdvisor.
