Last week, we escaped the cold and snow of Boston and headed cross-country to San Diego, California. The direct flight, which is 6 1/2 hours, was on time, and made it out of Boston right before our latest blizzard. Here are some of the Instagram images from our trip – I’ll have more details on our trip here soon. As a reminder, follow me on Instagram for more travel photography.

The sky was beautiful in Boston before we left. Since flights later in the day were canceled, we were fortunate that our flight was early in the morning.
Thanks to the time difference, we arrived in the late afternoon before our room at the Bahia Resort Hotel was ready. We had no problem relaxing by the beach waiting for the check-in time.

The wait was worth it, because when we got in the room, we had this fantastic view.
On our first full day, we went to the world-famous San Diego Zoo.

That afternoon, we met some friends in Old Town San Diego.
The next morning, we drove to the downtown/waterfront area for a harbor cruise with Hornblower cruises.

In the afternoon, we went to Belmont Park, an amusement park that is located two blocks from the hotel we stayed in.
On Tuesday, we drove about 45 minutes north to the seaside town of Carlsbad to visit Legoland for the day.

On our last day, we relaxed at the resort, took a long walk through Mission Beach, and hung out at the pool. My kids loved watching Gracie, the rescue seal at our resort, being fed.
Being both mid-week, and a bit chilly (mid-60s), Mission Beach was empty.

On Thursday, we had to head back to snowy Boston.
