I love New York City, but I don’t always love the hotel rooms there. They are often old and small, and very expensive for what you get. So, when I had the chance to check out the new Staybridge Suites in New York City Times Square, I was excited to see what a kitchen in a NYC room would look like. Could a hotel in such a desirable location offer so many amenities at a reasonable price?
Staybridge Suites Times Square offered me a complimentary night stay to check out their brand-new hotel. I went with fairly low expectations, hoping for a nice, clean, comfortable hotel room, and was pleasantly surprised to receive a whole lot more.
The Staybridge Suites Times Square offers a variety of complimentary amenities almost unheard of in Manhattan, including free hot/cold breakfast buffet, free WiFi, a free fitness center, free laundry, and a free cocktail reception – in addition to the in-room mini kitchens.
Each of the 310 rooms includes a kitchen stocked with pots/pans, utensils, and dishes. The size of the rooms is great – I generally expect NYC rooms to be small, but this was definitely larger than I expected. They are also nicely decorated with modern colors and designs. Of course, since the hotel is brand-new, everything in the rooms was new.
I was somewhat unfamiliar with the location on 40th Street, and am pleased to say that it’s a great location – quiet enough to be enjoyable, but close enough to public transportation, and loads of shopping and restaurants. Our hotel room on the top floor was really quiet.
Breakfast in the morning was a bit chaotic, but the staff mentioned that they are working on ways to relieve some congestion in the breakfast room. Since the hotel had just opened, I think this is something they can work out. Overall, this is a great hotel for families staying in NYC.
