When staying in a family hotel, I’m always looking for a good blend of kid-friendly amenities, great service, a reasonable price, and a convenient location. During my recent trip to Asheville, North Carolina, I had the opportunity to stay at the Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East, a boutique style hotel that offers a great blend of amenities, convenience, service, and price.
Disclosure: My stay at the Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East and trip to Asheville was complimentary. All opinions are my own.

When planning your Asheville vacation, you’ll be looking for the best places to stay in Asheville North Carolina. During our visit, we enjoyed a three-night stay at the Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East, one of the several Holiday Inns located in Asheville.
Why Stay at the Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East
Holiday Inn is a popular family hotel chain, with good reason. The hotels’ designs are built on the principle of H4 – happiness, hospitality, home, and Holiday Inn. These hotels are meant to feel like home. The Biltmore East hotel feels like a cozy mountain lodge, with an inviting lobby.
The Biltmore East location is special because it is one of six full-service United States Holiday Inns that was recently awarded the Torchbearer Award. This award is given to hotels that receive high scores on their guest satisfaction surveys.
During our stay, I was so impressed with the friendliness of the staff. From the cleaning staff to the servers in the restaurant, everyone is so helpful.

Rooms at the Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East
The Holiday Inn offers rooms that are great for both business travelers and families. Several room types are available:
- 2 Double bed rooms (available with both mountain views and no views)
- 1 King bed rooms with a pullout sofa (available with both mountain views and no views)
- 1 King bed rooms with a pullout trundle (great for families – these are located on the first floor of the holiday)
Rooms all contain a number of great amenities including Keurig coffee makers with tea and coffee, microwaves, free WiFi, and refrigerator. Having a refrigerator and microwave is especially helpful for families. I was so impressed with the number of outlets scattered throughout the room. They were located exactly where I needed them to charge all of my devices.
Rooms also have very comfortable beds. There are both firm and soft pillows on the bed and they are labelled. I liked using both of the pillows together, but if you have a preference, it’s easy to differentiate them.
The Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East Restaurant
In the lobby, you’ll find the Wood Fire Bar and Grille, a restaurant serving both breakfast and dinner seven days a week. The Wood Fire Bar and Grille is 2017 Open Table Diner’s Choice award winner for best neighborhood gem, best value, and vibrant bar scene.
We ate dinner at the restaurant on the first evening, and I absolutely loved my meal. They are known for steak and local trout, and the food is fresh and delicious. They also offer an extensive wine list as well as local beers.
In the mornings, the hotel offers a delicious breakfast. Guests can choose to order off the menu or visit the buffet. I had the buffet on two mornings of my visit. Not only is it delicious, it’s also a fantastic value – $8.95.
The restaurant, like the rest of the hotel, has a rustic, wood lodge feel that is cozy and inviting.
Amenities at the Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East
The Biltmore East hotel offers a number of family-friendly amenities. If you are looking for ideas on what to do, there’s a virtual concierge tv screen and web page that offers suggestions and ideas. The front desk staff is also very knowledgeable and friendly.
If you want to swim, there’s a beautiful outdoor pool. It’s got a depth of 9 feet – the deepest pool in Asheville. The pool area also features an outdoor fire pit and a small gazebo that would be a perfect spot to relax.
Want to work out during your stay? There’s a fitness center with new equipment. It was pretty quiet during our stay. I didn’t use it however, because we were busy doing other things during our stay. There’s also a 2-acre landscaped hiking trail right outside the hotel.
If you need something during your stay, there’s a small shop area where you can purchase essentials. There are a few handcrafted souvenirs, beverages, a few medical essentials, and snacks.
In the lobby, you’ll find a business center area with a computer and printer. I think most people don’t generally need access to a public computer during their vacations (most travel with their own), but it’s helpful to have access to a printer. The hotel also has a conference room.
If you travel with your pets, the hotel is pet friendly. Guests can walk their dogs on the hiking trail to get exercise.
As a member of the IHG hotel group, the Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East offers the IHG Rewards Club. Guests can earn points during their stay.
There are other Holiday Inn Asheville NC hotels, including the Holiday Inn & Suites Biltmore Village. This relatively new hotel offers an indoor pool, if your family would prefer that during your stay.
