The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is one of my favorite hotels in the Phoenix area, and I can only imagine how beautiful this AAA Five Diamond resort is during the Christmas season. From their press release, here are some of the things going on this holiday season.
2ND ANNUAL “CHRISTMAS AT THE PRINCESS”
Tree Lighting Ceremony – November 17
As the grand centerpiece for the Fairmont Scottsdale’s 2nd Annual “Christmas at the Princess” festivities, the resort invites the public to its Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration, with the ceremony starting at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011. The event features the lighting of the resort’s glittering, four-story Christmas tree in Princess Plaza. Specially-designed for the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, the tree has 65,000 LED lights which “twinkle and dance” to 10 holiday songs. The evening also includes musical performances, a visit from Santa, carolers, complimentary sugar cookies and spiced cider on the Plaza. The resort’s new Holiday Shop will have a “Sparkle” event where kids can dip and paint their own sparkle ornament for $3. Valet parking is $10 that evening and self-parking is complimentary.
Toys for Tots
The tree lighting ceremony kicks off the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess’ toy drive for Toys for Tots. The Scottsdale Fire Department will be on-hand with a fire truck to accept unwrapped toys that evening. The resort will also be a drop-off location for Toys for Tots through Dec. 20, 2011. Local residents can pull right up to the Toys for Tots box at the front drive/porte cochere and a Bellman is happy to assist with their donation.
More About Four-Story Musical Tree, New Lagoon Light Displays & Resort Decor
Starting November 18, see the tree’s synchronized lighting and music show from 6 p.m.– 9:30 p.m. nightly, playing approximately every 10 minutes. During the day, this dazzling, four-story tree is a visual experience, with hundreds of mirrored stars that glisten and a 5-foot tree topper.
New! Holiday Lighting Displays on the Lagoon
All-new for 2011 are lighting displays along the resort’s majestic lagoons, where visitors can stroll under lit archways to see beautiful swans floating on the water, 14-foot poinsettias, a menorah, dreidel, toy soldiers and Santa fishing, along with 15 trees wrapped in sparkling lights.
Inside the main lobby, guests can enjoy the beauty of four natural green trees, embellished with colors that capture the heritage of the Southwest: silver, turquoise and peacock blue. Angel statues of delicately hammered silver, wreaths, swags and candles illuminate the lobby, with a six-foot gingerbread nutcracker and gingerbread sleigh adding to the holiday decor.
A 25-foot fiesta tree will also adorn La Hacienda Plaza near Willow Stream Spa, with music filling the air with the sounds of the season.
New! Holiday Shop
The Silver Saguaro Holiday Shop is located just off the lobby and is open until 8 p.m. nightly. The shop offers a variety of themed ornaments, menorahs, dreidels, toys, holiday gifts and more. Shipping is free in the U.S. for all purchases over $250 and gift wrapping is complimentary at all of the resort’s retail outlets.
