If I’m traveling on a family vacation to an area that is somewhat unknown to me, I’d always rather stay at a trustworthy chain hotel than a questionable hotel. Of course, with chain hotels, consistency is essential so travelers know exactly what to expect. I’ve recently stayed at several Hilton Garden Inns – a brand typically associated with business travel – and have found them to be very family-friendly. Unlike other chains, the Hilton Garden Inns often take on the character of the city they are located in – like the Carlsbad Beach Hilton Garden Inn pictured to the left.
Rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn
I’ve found the rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn to be consistent across locations. Most beds offer the Garden Sleep System (specifically request it if you want to be sure you get one) that is super comfortable. There’s generally a large desk with a Herman Miller chair, along with plenty of space for your belongings. All Hilton Garden Inns offer free WiFi, as well as a 24-hour free business center.
The Service at the Hilton Garden Inn
The two Hilton Garden Inns that I stayed at (Freeport, Maine and Carlsbad, CA) had phenomenal service. In Carlsbad, the manager was so helpful in recommending local restaurants and activities, and the rooms were always impeccably cleaned.
The Amenities at the Hilton Garden Inn
Beyond the WiFi and business center, the Hilton Garden Inn offers some other wonderful amenities, including free print on demand, a pool, and fitness center. Some locations, including the Carlsbad location, offer free local shuttle service.
As a bonus: now through September 2, 2011, on Hilton Garden Inn’s Facebook page, consumers are invited to share their ultimate to-do list items for the chance to win a 3-day/2-night trip totaling approximately $5,000, which includes roundtrip airfare to the destination of their choice for the winner and a guest, hotel accommodations at any Hilton Garden Inn around the globe and money to spend on the activity.
Disclosure: I received two expense paid trips – one to the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport, Maine, and the other to the Hilton Garden Inn in Carlsbad, CA. All opinions are my own.
