Have you been to a five-star resort that also caters to families? The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, a five-star resort located in North Scottsdale, Phoenix, manages to be upscale and luxurious, as well as family friendly. My kids felt like VIPs, and my husband and I felt entirely relaxed and pampered. There’s something for everyone at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess – from their world-class spa to their fun kids’ club.
Review of the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
It all starts at check-in, where your children are led to the special steps up to the concierge desk. After learning about the kids programs, they are offered their choice of a stuffed animal from a basket. We had already signed up for kids’ programs, so we headed out to our room.
The Rooms at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess offers 750 guest rooms, including 119 casitas. During my first stay, I had a standard room, and on our second trip, we received a room in the more family-friendly Casitas. Ours was a one-bedroom, but there are also two-bedroom units available. The one-bedroom had loads of room for us, including a huge walk-in closet, a large shower, a tub, a two-sink vanity, a pull-out couch, a desk, a balcony, and a fireplace. The kids absolutely loved the room too – it had lots of character and fun to explore.
Fairmont and deluxe rooms are also available. These rooms include a king bed or two double beds. Room amenities include coffee makers, balconies/terraces, makeup mirrors, a workspace, safes, and WiFi. While the rooms are luxurious and comfortable, there’s so much going on at the resort that you probably not going to spend too much time in the room.
The Kids’ Club at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
On our second day, the kids were enrolled in the kid’s club – Bobcat Billy’s Clubhouse. The Bobcat Billy program can be booked for a half-day, a half-day with lunch, or a full day. We opted for the half-day with lunch, and while I enjoyed an amazing treatment at the Willow Stream Spa, my kids did a craft, fed turtles, went fishing, played dodgeball, and ate lunch. (Note – the Fairmont kids club is now called the Trailblazer’s Kids’ Club, and it takes place in the Trailblazers Family Adventure Center). The kids’ club is available for kids’ aged 5-12.
Other Activities at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
I loved my visit to the gorgeous, relaxing Well & Being Spa. While you can go for just one treatment, I definitely recommend spending plenty of time in the spa. There’s so much to enjoy, including a grotto waterfall, Eucalyptus room, and cold plunge pool. Definitely plan for the kids to visit the kids’ club while you go to the spa, so that you won’t be rushed for time.
After my spa visit, we spent the afternoon in a cabana at the Sonoran Splash Pool, and the kids enjoyed playing in the pool and riding down the two waterslides. The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess includes six pools (the spa pool is adult only), so there’s lots of fun wherever you turn.
Fairmont Scottsdale Restaurants
The restaurants at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess are all family-friendly. The resort offers several different options, including La Hacienda by Richard Sandoval, Bourbon Steak, Toro Latin, Ironwood American Kitchen, and the Plaza Bar. There’s also food available poolside, as well as room service. During our visit, we dined at La Hacienda, which was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend planning to have a meal there. Toro Latin is their newest restaurant, and it wasn’t open when we visited.
Special Events at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess offers several different activities throughout the year, including Christmas at the Princess and Summer Splash at the Princess. Regardless of when you visit, you are likely to have a great time.
My kids, especially my daughter, have been begging to return. My daughter just loved being in a luxury hotel and feeling important, while my son enjoyed all of the activities. We’ll definitely be back – maybe even next year.
