Late last year, I needed to travel from Boston to NYC for a weekend, right before the holidays. Although NYC in the hotel is usually pretty pricey, I was able to get a great deal on Priceline that included round-trip flights from Boston Logan to JFK Airport, as well as a one-night stay at the 4-star Eventi Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.
My daughter and I arrived at the hotel via cab from Kennedy – in retrospect, given the location of the hotel, it would have easy to take the train from Boston into Penn Station. We arrived before check in and were greeted by friendly doormen who were happy to carry our luggage in. After a short wait in line, we were upgraded to an available corner room so we didn’t have to wait to check in to the original room I’d booked.
Upon arriving at our room, I was pleasantly surprised by the size. NYC hotel rooms are notoriously small, but our room was completely comfortable. The King room we had seemed new or recently renovated, and offered a workspace, a flat-screen television, a rain shower, large windows, a mini bar, and lots of outlets for our electronics. WiFi is available for an additional fee, or you can get it complimentary if you sign up for the free Kimpton loyalty program (you’ll also get a $10 minibar credit). The hotel offers complimentary replacements or loans of items if you forget something – including toothpaste, razors, hair straighteners, and much more.
The Eventi lobby is fairly small, like other NYC boutique hotels, but is trendy and hip. We hung out in the lobby for a bit before heading to the airport and found it to be cozy. The hotel offers a daily wine happy hour. Since I was traveling with my young daughter, I skipped it. They also offer twenty-four hour room service and morning coffee and tea. In the evenings, the hotel shows sporting events and movies in “Big Screen Plaza” – an outdoor space with a large screen.
We really enjoyed our stay at Eventi, and I’ll definitely return in the future. To learn more about Eventi, visit their website.
