DoubleTree by Hilton Vail has just introduced one of their newest resorts – the first Hilton hotel in Vail, Colorado. The brand-new DoubleTree in Vail offers family fun and convenience in a modern environment. Whether you enjoy skiing and other winter sports, or prefer the sunny weather of the summer, the new DoubleTree is a great option for families. Its modern but cozy design is comfortable and inviting. You’ll want to spend time just hanging around the hotel’s lobby and common areas in addition to exploring Vail.
Disclosure: My trip to Vail was at no cost for purposes of exploring reviewing the property. All opinions are my own.
Review of the New DoubleTree by Hilton Vail
Location of the DoubleTree by Hilton Vail
I flew direct from Boston to Denver, which is about 2 to 2 ½ hours from Vail. Bus service is available from the Denver airport to Vail, or you can choose to rent a car. There’s also an airport in Vail which offers regional service.
The hotel is conveniently located less than two miles from Vail Mountain Resort. A complimentary shuttle is offered that can take you to the mountain as well as other Vail attractions. With free parking at the hotel, it’s easier to leave your car parked at the resort and take the shuttle wherever you need to go. Then you don’t have to worry about a thing!
Near the hotel, you’ll also find several fast/quick-serve restaurants as well as a grocery store within walking distance.
When you check into the hotel, you’ll receive one of their warm signature cookies. These are a staple across the whole DoubleTree chain, and they are so delicious. Those with nut allergies should know that these cookies do contain nuts. However, the hotel does offer packaged allergen-free options – just ask!
Rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton Vail
The DoubleTree offers 116 hotel rooms, including 19 bi-level suites. During my stay, I had one of these suites, and think they’d be great for families. I always love having a little extra space for my family to spread out on vacation.
Rooms include complimentary WiFi, mini fridges, Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries, live edge wood desks, lots of outlets and USB ports, televisions, hair dryers, and more. The beds are also extremely comfortable – I slept so well during my stay.
If you’d like more space, the suites are a great option. In addition to the regular room amenities, the bi-level suites offer so much more. There are several different configurations, including a 1 King Bedroom with 1 King Loft Suite, a 1 King Loft Suite, a 2 King Loft Suite, and a 2 Queen Bedroom with 1 King Loft Suite. These suites have fireplaces, kitchenettes, a balcony, and a sofa bed.
During my stay, I found the room to be so quiet and comfortable. You’re likely to be busy during your Vail family vacation, but when you return to the room, you’ll have a great place to relax.
Amenities at the DoubleTree by Hilton Vail
In addition to the complimentary shuttle service, the DoubleTree Vail offers a variety of fabulous amenities that families will enjoy. The heated outdoor pool and hot tub is the perfect place to cool off and relax before or after a busy day. The pool area also has some fun games on the deck, including cornhole and large Jenga. Food and bar service is offered at the pool, so you won’t have to leave if you get hungry or thirsty.
The beautiful lobby is the perfect gathering spot for travelers. There, you’ll find two computers for printing out boarding passes, a fireplace, and comfortable chairs. Pivot62, the hotel’s bar and restaurant, is also located in the lobby area. It offers a co-working space in addition to food and beverages.
If you are interested in ski, snowboard, or bike rentals, there’s a Charter Sports location right off the lobby. They offer delivery of equipment and local hotel guests can receive a 30% discount.
In need of a little relaxation? A branch of Simply Massage is located on the first floor. They specialize exclusively in massages, and several options are offered. Before I got on my red eye flight home, I had the opportunity to have a massage and found it so relaxing. It’s the perfect thing to do after a busy day or before a long flight.
The hotel also offers a brand-new gym filled with equipment, as well as a laundry room. If you need them, there are also business services available, including meeting rooms and equipment rental.
Food at the DoubleTree by Hilton Vail
You’ll find several food options available right on property at the DoubleTree by Hilton Vail. Pivot62, located in the lobby, offers locally-sourced food including shareable plates. They also have unique cocktails, served in an open, fun environment.
There are also two separately operated restaurants on property. Westside Cafe has a fun, mining-town vibe and delicious comfortable food. For lunch, I had the fabulous ahi tuna tacos, and enjoyed breakfast tacos for breakfast. If I were staying in Vail on a family vacation, I’d probably eat breakfast there every morning. It was a great way to start the day.
Further down from Westside Cafe is Casa Mexico, a Mexican restaurant with a full bar. I didn’t have the opportunity to check out the food at Casa Mexico during my stay, however.
If you’d prefer to grab and go your food, the hotel offers a Made Market, with a Starbucks coffee machine and some grab and go items. The Made Market is open 24 hours a day, so you can get what you need whenever you need it. In room dining is also available if you’d prefer.
Whatever season you are traveling to Vail in, the DoubleTree by Hilton Vail is a fabulous spot for your family vacation. Learn more about the hotel here.
