When families are thinking about which of Walt Disney World’s four major theme parks to visit, they often consider visiting only one or two. When deciding which park(s) to skip, Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios) is one of the parks considered. However, I often recommend that families, especially those with boys, plan on visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios at least once during your vacation.
Although many still think of “old Hollywood” and thrill rides when thinking of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there is so much more – and many things that appeal to little ones. The Disney Junior – Live on Stage! show was always one of my kids favorites – it’s a don’t miss show for preschoolers, along with the character meal at the Hollywood and Vine.
Recent additions in the park include Toy Story Midway Mania along Pixar Place, where your Toy Story fans will have a great time collecting points and playing the 3D midway games, and a Cars meet and greet section (the only place at Walt Disney World where your kids can see Mater and Lightening McQueen). There’s also the MuppetVision 3D movie, which is always a hit with my kids, and StarTours, a fun 3D experience.
Thrill seekers will love the Twilight Zone’s Tower of Terror and the Rock n Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith – two of the best thrill rides on Disney property.
