Enhance your next visit to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure with the Disneyland app, which lets you check wait times for the theme park attractions, see Fastpass return times, order food at restaurants, get FastPass reservations, and more.
What do you really know about the Disneyland App, MaxPass, FastPass and all those other mobile options at Disneyland? Chances are you’re like me and a little confused as to what they all mean. Why should you download the Disneyland app? Well, I’ve partnered with the travel agents at Get Away Today to help us figure it all out.

How to Use the Disneyland App
Get Away Today is the number one wholesale seller of Disneyland tickets, and they regularly visit Disneyland and the hotels near Disneyland so you know what to expect when you decide to take the plunge and go. That’s why I trust them to help explain the best way to use the Disneyland App. They know all the ins and outs.
How to Use the Official Disneyland App
If you could only download one travel app to help you save time at Disneyland, it should be the official Disneyland App.
Available on both iPhone and Android devices, the Disneyland App will give you access to so many resources that will make your trip memorable in a good way. The Disneyland App allows you to get an estimate on ride wait times, look at maps of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, find Disney Characters throughout the resorts and so much more.
With the Disneyland App, you can also check show times at the resorts so you know exactly when FROZEN Live at the Hyperion starts, or when you should head over to Main Street for Mickey’s Mix Magic for the family friendly dance party and light show. This will help you know exactly how long you have for rides or meals before your favorite entertainment is ready for viewing.
If you’re an annual Disneyland pass holder, you can rely on the Disneyland App to show blackout dates, and anyone can use the app to see ride maintenance schedules, rain delays and fireworks schedules.
As one of the best travel apps out there for Disney vacations, the Disneyland App also allows you to access FastPasses, MaxPass and mobile ordering, about which I’ll go into detail below.
How to Use the Disneyland App – FastPass
Now, FastPass isn’t an app in and of itself, but it’s a time saving option at Disneyland that can be redeemed with MaxPass through the Disneyland App. But since FastPass and MaxPass are different things, I’ll focus on the FastPass first.
FastPass is a service at Disneyland that allows you to skip the long lines at select rides throughout the Resort. FastPasses are limited but are a great way to help you pack in a lot of rides in one day. To request a FastPass, you’ll head to the physical distribution sign located at a ride like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which offers FastPasses. There isn’t a separate Disneyland FastPass app.
You’ll use your Disneyland ticket to request a FastPass if you see that the ride time works with what you have planned. Then you’ll keep the time on your FastPass in your mind and do something other than stand in line.
When the time to ride approaches, return to the ride for which you requested your FastPass and scan your Disneyland ticket again. You’ll then be able to jump the line and get on a lot sooner than if you hadn’t requested the FastPass.
FastPass is FREE, and they are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have early admission to the Resort with Magic Morning or Extra Magic Hour, you can get a head start on requesting FastPasses for use later in the day.
Just be sure you have your times and locations figured out so you know you can be at the rides at the times assigned to you! It’s important to note that while FastPasses cannot be used during early admission times in the Resort, you can use that time to get queued up at the physical distribution centers to request FastPasses.
How to Use the Disneyland App With MaxPass
The MaxPass at Disneyland is an additional fee per person per day, and is accessible via the Disneyland App. As of 2019 it’s a $15 fee, but it is well worth the cost. With MaxPass, you can remotely request FastPasses on select rides.
This eliminates the need to trek across the Disneyland Resort and physically use your Disneyland ticket to request a return time to ride. You could be enjoying your meal and using the MaxPass service to request a FastPass for a ride across the park. Then you can just scoot on over to the ride it applies to and enjoy a shorter wait time!
Another bonus to the MaxPass application is that its purchase also gives you access to PhotoPass. With PhotoPass, you’ll have unlimited photo downloads for the day you purchased MaxPass.
This means that if any Disney photographer takes your picture while you’re in the park on the day you purchased a MaxPass, you can download those photos at no additional cost. Also, some rides have photos built into the experience, and you can download those as well with purchase of a MaxPass.
When you purchase Disneyland tickets with Get Away Today, they are all eligible to access the MaxPass in the Disneyland App, which is just one of the many reasons to book with them.
How to Use the Disneyland App – Disney Mobile Ordering
Another reason the Disneyland app is one of the BEST travel apps is because it now allows you to preorder and pre-pay for food in the Disneyland Resort! Instead of waiting in line at your favorite food spot, feeling hungry and exhausted, you can order while you’re in line for your favorite ride.
With Disney’s mobile ordering you can choose the time you want to pick up your food and walk right up to the vendor’s pickup spot. Go on those rides and rest assured that by the time you’re done, you won’t be waiting around to eat!
Disney mobile ordering offers a wide selection of fast-casual and quick-service dining options, so everyone in your group can get something that sounds good. You can even order food before you’ve entered the Resort. So if you’re in the hotel and know what you want for lunch, go ahead and make the advance purchase! Doing so early will most likely give you better pick up times.
