I started a diet back in March, and lost some weight and inches. Although I am still very much watching what I eat, I put that diet on hold for a short period of time back in August when I went to Italy. There are just so many delicious foods and drinks to eat, that I just couldn’t hold back. Here are some of the delicious bites on the Amalfi Coast.
Lemons grow in abundance in Sorrento, and therefore, there are lots of delicious treats made with lemon. The most popular is limoncello, an alcoholic aperitif with a strong lemon flavor. Many shops along the Amalfi coast make their own limoncello, and it’s worth sampling a few.
On our first full day in Sorrento, we went to Inn Bufalito, a restaurant located just a short walk from our hotel. We shared a few different things, including this amazing cheese sampler plate pictured above. I’m still dreaming of that delicious cheese, which tasted completely fresh.
Everyone in my family loves pasta, and while it isn’t something I eat much of anymore, I definitely had my share on vacation. The pasta pictured above, also from Inn Bufalito in Sorrento, was one of my daughter’s favorite entrees during the trip.
I also had plenty of pasta with clam sauce, which is one of my favorite meals. My favorite was at Al Capri on the island of Capri, which is a beautiful restaurant located in the center of Capri. While it was expensive, it was definitely one of my favorite restaurants.
Of course, the Amalfi Coast is known for their delicious seafood, and I couldn’t wait to sample everything. One of the most unique seafood items I tried was a pasta with grilled octopus. We had this entree at Ristorante ‘O Parrucchiano La Favorita, which is a gorgeous restaurant where you sit in a greenhouse/garden filled with trees and plants.
We sampled gelato at almost every place in Italy, and our favorite was in Sorrento. If you are traveling to Italy, definitely make it your mission to figure out which place has the best gelato.
