If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, go right ahead – I’ll wait), you probably already know that I’m obsessed with traveler’s notebooks. Originally created by Midori, there’s a whole cottage industry of individual artisans creating Midori-inspired notebooks. I’ve been using them as journals, planners, and notebooks. A traveler’s notebook consists of a piece of material – typically fabric or leather – with strings on the interior. You can purchase books and folders that can be added to the notebook by sliding it on the string on the inside. There are several sizes available, including a wide size that fits 5×8 notebooks.
When my Disney Cruise Line book arrived in the mail a few months ago, I realized that it was the perfect size for one of my traveler’s notebooks. It was easy to slide through one of the strings. I then added some additional features to make it the perfect notebook for travel. I’ll be using one of these for every one of my trips – it was so convenient.
After adding the cruise book (which I threw out during my cruise – thus no pictures), I made an insert with my printer and some colored paper. I put in a journal section for each day, and stapled it all together.
I also added two folders. I make my own folders, but they are easily purchased on Etsy (search traveler’s notebook folder).
Finally, I added a notebook to the back (I recommend May Designs books) so that I could take notes on my vacation.
As I received various confirmations – for things like travel insurance, our flights, and hotel stay, I printed them out and inserted them into the folders.
On vacation, I carried the book with me in my purse, and I had all our confirmations and cruise documents right at my finger tips.
Wondering where to buy a traveler’s notebook? This one pictured is from The Foxy Fix on Etsy, but she’s currently taking a break from her shop. Another great store is Chic Sparrow – use my affiliate link for 10% off your first purchase of $50 or more. I’d recommend getting the wide – which is the perfect size for May Designs notebooks.
