Have you made family vacation plans for spring break yet? Even if you haven’t, you still definitely have time to plan a great trip. Whether you want to hop on a plane to a warm-weather destination or drive to a more convenient local vacation spot, here are some of the best family travel destinations.
Disclosure: I’ve visited some of these locations as parts of press trips at no cost. All opinions are my own.
Walt Disney World
Lake Buena Vista, FL
The ultimate spring break family vacation is Walt Disney World! You can soak up some sun, spend family time together, and enjoy all of the activities and attractions that are located right on site at Walt Disney World. Stay on property, or at one of the many family-friendly hotels and resorts that are located just a short distance from the parks.
If you are looking for a burst of warm weather, family-friendly activities, and relaxation, Phoenix, Arizona may be the perfect destination. You can enjoy hot air ballooning, outdoor dining, baseball in downtown Phoenix, and much more. Many of the resorts in the greater Phoenix area are kid friendly – with pools, waterslides, lazy rivers, and much more.
Cooperstown, New York
Do you have a baseball fan in your family? Celebrate the start of the 2012 baseball season at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown. There are lots of other activities in the Cooperstown area, including the Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchards, the Farmers’ Museum, and the Empire State Carousel.
New York City, New York
You can get to New York City by taking a train, bus, flight, or car, and there are so many kid-friendly activities. Check out the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and Ellis Island. Take a bus tour of the city, and learn about some of the history of the island. You can also check out the Bronx Zoo, catch a baseball game, and dine at some wonderful restaurants. The Omni Berkshire is one of the most kid-friendly hotels in the city, and there are loads of other options at all price points.
No passports are needed to visit San Juan, Puerto Rico, which experiences its dry season in April. There are also several fun festivals going on in April, including Saborea Puerto Rico (a Puerto Rican food festival from April 21-22) and Jose de Diago Day (a festival of food, music, and dancing). Check out our review of the El Conquistador Resort in Puerto Rico.
San Diego, California
San Diego is not only one of the most beautiful places in the world, it’s also one of the most kid-friendly. Activities like Legoland, the San Diego Zoo, and the beach are just a few steps away. You can either stay right in the city, or in one of the suburbs, like La Jolla or Carlsbad.
