I love spending time at the beach, and I especially enjoy vacations at resorts and hotels that are right on the beach. That way, we can have fun in the water and the sand, and then easily head back to our room to get away from the sun throughout the day.
My family also enjoys trying out different water sports, and staying on the beach is a great way to experience them. These are the best family beach hotels that we have visited (check out this post for tips on cheap family beach vacations).

The Best Family Beach Hotels

Martinhal Sagres Family Beach Resort, Sagres, Portugal
After visiting the Martinhal Sagres Family Beach Resort, I couldn’t stop thinking of my stay. While I generally prefer to visit beaches in the US, Mexico, and the Caribbean (reserving our European vacations for sightseeing), this resort is pretty amazing.
Located right on the beach in Sagres, Portugal, this family-friendly resort is the perfect place for a European beach family vacation. It’s right on the beach, and also offers a pool.
There are a variety of different accommodation types at the Martinhal Sagres Family Beach Resort, from standard rooms to large villas, as well as a full array of family activities. Combine a stay here with a stay in Lisbon to have both a city and a beach vacation.

The Sea Crest Beach Hotel is located right on one of the most beautiful beaches in New England. Old Silver Beach is just steps away from the hotel rooms at the Sea Crest.
There’s also a great restaurant, a vibrant outdoor bar, two pools, and gorgeous views. Although summer is the high season, fall is also a fantastic time to visit for fewer crowds.

Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island Bahamas
Atlantis Resort, located on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, is a bucket-list resort offering a water park, pools, and beach access. There are a variety of different lodging types at the resort, depending on your budget.
If you are traveling on a cruise ship visiting the Bahamas, you can also visit Atlantis for the day. Guests doing that should consider forgoing the beach, and instead getting a pass for the iconic water park.

Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, Florida
The Omni Amelia Island is a beachfront resort located on Amelia Island, adjacent to Jacksonville Florida. This expansive resort offers family activities including nature activities, miniature golf, pools, and a beach.

Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort
Clearwater Beach is regularly rated as one of the best in America. Stay right on the beach at this Hilton resort that also offers a pool, several restaurants, and more.
This resort does charge for rental of beach chairs and umbrellas, so you may prefer to rent from a local company if you are staying for an extended time.
