Given the choice of hotel chains for my business trips, I’ll usually choose a Westin. Their Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath make for such a relaxing stay. Last month, as part of the TMS Family Travel Conference, I stayed at the Westin Crown Center Kansas City, which is a great hotel for a Kansas City family vacation.
The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center is located right in the heart of Crown Center, home to Legoland Discovery Center, SEA LIFE Aquarium, and Hallmark’s headquarters. This central location makes it easy to just park at the resort and walk to many of the family-friendly activities in Kansas City.
Of course, as a Westin-branded hotel, there are lots of other great amenities to the resort. Business travelers will appreciate the 53,873 square feet of meeting facilities. I especially liked the special touches, like cucumber water, during our sessions in the meeting rooms.
Those looking to relax will enjoy the outdoor heated swimming pool. Although it was chilly during my stay, I saw many people taking advantage of the pool. There’s also a sauna, whirlpool, and outdoor tennis courts. The hotel offers one restaurant, The Brasserie, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but there are several other restaurants located in Crown Center.
Rooms at the Westin are comfortable and spacious. My room had two double beds, both with the unbelievably comfortable Heavenly Bed linens. The room offers a large desk with lots of outlets – great for working in your room. There was a small balcony off my room – not quite large enough to sit on, but big enough to stand and get some air. A small coffee maker is located outside the bathroom, complete with everything you need to make a cup or two. WiFi is offered – it’s $9.95 per day, and SPG Members receive complimentary internet when the room is booked on Starwood websites, mobile sites, and SPG apps.
My room was very quiet, despite the central location. I did hear some noise from the pool area in the evening, but it ended early. I didn’t interact with many staff members during my stay, but the ones I did meet with helpful and friendly.
I’d definitely recommend a stay at the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center, whether you are a business traveler, or are staying with your family. To learn more, visit the Westin Crown Center Kansas City website.
