I always love incorporating some education into our family vacations, so we usually visit at least one family museum on each trip. The best kids’ museums offer education and fun in a place that both adults and kids can enjoy. Here are ten of our favorite, must-see museums with kids.
If you only go to one children’s museum, THIS is the one you’ll want to visit. Located in Rochester, NY, the National Museum of Play also includes the National Toy Hall of Fame.
My kids absolutely love this fun museum, which is located on an actual air craft carrier in New York City.
I love how this museum showcases different cultures of the world through their music and instruments. Kids enjoy wearing headphones as they walk through the exhibits.
Remember the Alamo! Surprisingly, the Alamo is located right in the center of San Antonio, a short walk from the Riverwalk. It’s educational and beautiful.
This art museum in Quebec City is located in an old jail on the Plains of Abraham. It’s a gorgeous museum with lots of things for kids to do.
My kids love exploring this museum, which offers an IMAX theater and a planetarium, as well as numerous exhibit halls.
The Musee de la Civilisation is located in the lower part of Quebec City. It includes numerous permanent and traveling exhibits.
My kids were amazed to see that this museum is located completely outdoors. You’ll see desert animals and plants specific to the Sonoran Desert.
The Boston Museum of Science is my all-time favorite museum. Featuring a planetarium, IMAX theater, permanent and traveling exhibits, it’s completely hands-on and educational.
During my visit to Detroit this past winter, I was so impressed with the Henry Ford Museum. Many historical artifacts are there, including the Lincoln chair and the Rosa Parks bus.
