Bonjour! Are you traveling to Canada and wondering what to do in Quebec City with Kids? While I haven’t yet traveled to Quebec City with my children, I have visited loads of times as a child and as an adult. There are lots of things to do, and some great places to stay.
Places to Stay in Quebec City With Kids
Loews Le Concorde: I love Loews Hotels and the Quebec City location is no exception. It’s outside of the walled city, but definitely within walking distance, and offers some fabulous views of the city. It also boasts a spa, some delicious restaurants, an outdoor pool, and comfortable rooms.
Hotel Manoir-Victoria: This charming hotel, located in the walled city, is charming, comfortable, and authentic. The service is wonderful, and you’ll be just steps away from the restaurants and shops of the walled city. It also offers an indoor pool and a spa, as well as a family meal program (kids under 6 are free, 6-12 are 50% off).
What to Do in Quebec City With Kids
Kids will love walking around the city, checking out the European style shops and cafes. The Funicular elevator is a fun ride, and takes you down to the lower city. The Musee de le Civilisation is free for kids under 11 and offers a hands-on room for children.
As a child, I loved running around the Plains of Abraham, and viewing the changing of the guard at The Citadel of Quebec (seasonal, in the summer). As an older child, I loved renting a self-walking tour device and checking out the entire city on my own.
Depending on how long you are in Quebec City, you may consider taking a bus tour or driving to the Saint Anne de Beaupre Shrine, about 30 minutes outside the city. It’s beautiful and while the kids probably won’t want to spend lots of time there, it’s still worth a visit. Another place to check out is Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, a waterfall one and a half times as high as Niagara Falls.
If you have a car, you may want to check out North America’s second largest indoor amusement park, the Mega-Parc. There’s also the Super Labrinthe, a 12-sided structure that families must navigate through. Want to explore the St. Lawrence River? Take a water ferry up the river!
