• Roadtripping in the Toyota Prius

family travel reviews - Toyota Prius
Most families in my community road trip in their minivans or SUVs, but we hit the road with our Toyota Prius.  No, it isn’t the largest vehicle in the world, but it’s got tons of space for us, and we save on gas mileage.

So, how do we make it work?  First of all, my kids sit in Britax Frontier 85 Booster Seats, so they have cup holders at their disposal.  We have two cup holders in the front – just enough for a drink for each of us.

The trunk of a Toyota Prius is surprisingly spacious.  We can fit at least two large suitcases in the trunk, as well as a small duffel or two.  Any additional items can fit between my kids or on the floor in front of them.

For entertainment, we have the stereo system connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth for music, and my kids generally play with iPads or Leapsters.  I also have the GoFlex Satellite which holds loads of movies and connects via Bluetooth to the iPads to play movies for the kids.

We’ve also roadtripped in the Prius in the winter, and are always impressed with how it handles in the snow.  While it doesn’t have four-wheel drive, it handles nicely.

What’s your favorite car for a road trip?
