A review of the gorgeous Sea Crest Beach Resort, located in Falmouth, MA on Cape Cod

I grew up in Rhode Island, and pretty much had the ocean right outside my window. But I was never a beach person – I always preferred hanging out by a pool rather than sitting in the hot sand. It wasn’t until the past year or so that I began to appreciate how fabulous a good beach day is. All I need is a chair, towel, sunscreen, and a good book, and I can sit on the beach all day. The salty air, crashing waves, the warm sun…. I can’t believe I never appreciated it before.Sea Crest Beach Hotel

One thing I don’t like about the beach is the hassle getting there. Although I live just minutes from the coast now, it isn’t so easy to spend the day at the beach. Traffic to the popular beaches can be a nightmare, and they often fill up, sending car loads of disappointed beach lovers home. So all summer, I looked forward to another long weekend at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth, Cape Cod – a hotel that is located directly on the beach.

The obvious draw of the Sea Crest Beach Hotel is the access to the beach, but there is so much more than that. There’s also an indoor pool, and outdoor pool, a small game room, a fabulous restaurant, and lots of family activities. The hotel has a gorgeous, crisp, clean decor, and the rooms are standard-sized but comfortable for a family of four.

We celebrated my daughter’s 9th birthday during our weekend away, and she requested dinner at the on-site Red’s Restaurant for her special birthday dinner. The food is great, and you can’t beat the view. We also ate both of our lunches beach side, and had breakfast in the gorgeous Ocean View room, which offers a hot and cold buffet with made-to-order waffles and omelets.

This year, the Sea Crest just opened a new, private 3-bedroom beach cottage. It features three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a large living room, open kitchenette, washer and dryer, deck, and a private backyard. The cottage is perfect for a family reunion, or for a family that would like some extra space.
