I’ve been to lots of hotels. Big hotels. Little hotels. Seedy hotels. Five star hotels. Hotels with restaurants, hotels with WiFi, hotels with spas, and hotels with just rooms. But, I’d never been to a hotel with an entire village, including bars, restaurants, shops, rooms, waterfalls, rivers, and conference facilities under one “biodome” roof.
Until I went to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel two years ago for Blissdom.
Since then, I’ve stayed at the Gaylord Opryland three times, and I’ve always found something new to love (and always manage to get lost, at least once per stay). This resort is so unique, so special, that I never even manage to leave to see Nashville.
I’ve been to Nashville three times and have only seen this hotel and the airport. Seriously.
The rooms at the Gaylord Opryland are standard sized, and you can upgrade to a room with a balcony that faces one of the atriums. The separate resort fee includes two bottles of water, online access to the Wall Street Journal, as well as high-speed internet access. There are also several pools, a spa, and a fitness center. Food is plentiful throughout the hotel. It’s generally pretty good, but expect to pay more than you’d pay outside the hotel. You’ll also find live music at several of the venues – a nice bonus for a hotel bar!
This is also a great place to bring the kids. Not only is it incredibly appealing to children, the Gaylord hotels have recently introduced a partnership with DreamWorks. On select weekends, you’ll get to see characters from popular DreamWorks films, like Shrek and Madagascar.
Since you really have to see this hotel to believe it, check out my video review of the Gaylord Opryland, as well as these photos.
