• Renovations and More at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia

Kingsmill Resort During the Virginia media tour I attended back in April, we spent one night at the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA.  The Great Wolf Lodge is the perfect kid resort, but if you are looking for a resort that appeals more to older kids and adults, the Kingsmill Resort down the street may be the perfect solution.

We visited the Kingsmill Resort, which is right near Busch Gardens, for breakfast and a tour before leaving Virginia.  The Kingsmill Resort was recently acquired from Anheuser-Busch by Xanterra, a company known for being the largest national and state park concessioner.  Xanterra has committed to continuing to develop the Kingsmill Resort, and a variety of resort improvements are in the works, including a two-story restaurant at the marina and a deluxe outdoor swimming pool complex.

Kingsmill Room Although we didn’t stay at the resort, we did have the chance to check out the rooms and the grounds.  While a resort with an LPGA golf course, fitness center, and spa doesn’t necessarily seem like the most kid-friendly resort, the Kingsmill Resort was recently voted one of the top 20 Family-Friendly Hotels by Womens’ Day magazine.  The resort offers suite-style resort rooms, which are great for families, as well as standard hotel rooms.  In addition, kid’s camps and kid’s programs are available seasonally.
