Have you heard of a five-star resort that also caters to families? The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, a five-star resort located in North Scottsdale, Phoenix, manages to be upscale and luxurious, as well as family friendly. My kids felt like VIPs, and my husband and I felt entirely relaxed and pampered.
It all starts at check-in, where your children are led to the special steps up to the concierge desk. After learning about the kids programs, they are offered their choice of a stuffed animal from a basket. We had already signed up for kids’ programs, so we headed out to our room.
While the resort offers standard rooms, we received a room in the more family-friendly Casitas. Ours was a one-bedroom, but there are also two-bedroom units available. The one-bedroom had loads of room for us, including a huge walk-in closet, a large shower, a tub, a two-sink vanity, a pull-out couch, a desk, a balcony, and a fireplace. The kids absolutely loved the room too – it had lots of character and fun to explore.
On our second day, the kids were enrolled in the kid’s club – Bobcat Billy’s Clubhouse. The Bobcat Billy program can be booked for a half-day, a half-day with lunch, or a full day. We opted for the half-day with lunch, and while I enjoyed an amazing treatment at the Willow Stream Spa, my kids did a craft, fed turtles, went fishing, played dodgeball, and ate lunch at the on-site LV Grill. We spent the afternoon in a cabana at the Sonoran Splash Pool, and the kids enjoyed playing in the pool and riding down the two waterslides.
The restaurants at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess are all family-friendly, and the LV Grill even has a special playroom for kids to play in while mom and dad eat. The food is excellent also – my husband and I dined on ceviche and ahi tuna salads while my kids raved about the quesadillas and the macaroni and cheese.
My kids, especially my daughter, have been begging to return. My daughter just loved being in a luxury hotel and feeling important, while my son enjoyed all of the activities. We’ll definitely be back – maybe even next year.
Disclosure: We were hosted by the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and received some complimentary meals and activities.
