Here at Family Travel Magazine, we generally write about kid-friendly hotels that are unique and different. So while I do stay in chain hotels frequently, I don’t always write about them, especially if they aren’t especially unique. The benefit of a chain hotel – consistency – can sometimes be it’s downfall. So I was quite surprised to see all of the wonderful family-friendly amenities during our recent stay at the Comfort Inn Plattsburgh in the Adirondacks, and I knew I’ve have to share a Comfort Inn Plattsburgh review here.
Comfort Inn Plattsburgh Review
Last year, right after Christmas, we visited the Lake Champlain region of New York to check out Ausable Chasm in the winter. We had a king suite at the Comfort Inn Plattsburgh, which was one large room. It includes a king bed, a pull-out couch, a dining area with a table, microwave, and refrigerator, and a large bathroom with a shower and whirlpool bath. The room itself is huge, and offered plenty of room for our family. Everything is very new, and extremely clean. The only issue I’d have about the room is the location, which was right across from the weight room and adjacent to the small water park. Noise wasn’t a huge issue, but we could definitely hear sounds from both locations – especially the weight room. Overnight, however, the room was very quiet.
We were completely surprised to see how fabulous the hotel amenities are for families with kids. The small water park is perfect for families with little ones. It includes two water slides (both spanning two floors) and a small splash area. My five-year old son and my seven-year old daughter loved it, and wouldn’t leave. It wasn’t too crowded – surprising since local families are invited to attend for a small fee. The only downside was that they were slow on refreshing the towels. But, as fun as the pool was, my kids loved Champey’s Fun Zone even more. It includes an indoor miniature golf course, a two-lane bowling alley (sized for kids), and loads of arcade games. The Comfort Inn and Suites Plattsburgh also offers a full exercise facility, which is complimentary for hotel guests. There are also two on-site restaurants – the casual Perkins (which was our regular breakfast stop) and Legends Brew Pub and Wine Bar. Legend’s restaurant wasn’t open yet when we visited – so we weren’t able to check it out. But, it is open now.
