I’ve written about hotel amenities that families want, but most of those were amenities that the hotel offers at the hotel, rather than in-room amenities. On our recent stay at the Stowe Mountain Lodge in Stowe, Vermont, I saw these two items pictured above (the mega-magnification mirror and the scale) and I realized that while there are some things families love seeing in their room, there are things that we can live without. So, what are your in-room, must-have amenities? Here are mine:
Awesome toiletries: Fabulous toiletries, like the Bliss amenities at many W Hotels and the White Tea and Aloe toiletries at many Westin Hotels, make me happy. When a toilet skimps on toiletries, it simply looks like they don’t care.
A nice hairdryer: Raise your hand if you’ve ever burnt your hair in one of those itty bitty hairdryers that are mounted on the wall. It takes a careful act of acrobatics to hold that hairdryer to your hair and dry it effectively.
A comfortable bed: I recently stayed at a nice hotel that was great, but had a somewhat uncomfortable bed. Comfortable bedding and mattresses are what make a good hotel a great hotel.
Large counters with double sinks: This makes it so much easier to feel at home in a hotel.
A coffee maker with coffee: The Best Western Waterbury I recently stayed in wasn’t a 5-star hotel, but the in-room Keurig made for a fabulous experience.
What are your favorite in-room hotel amenities?
