• A Family Visit to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum

sonoran desert museum During our family vacation to Phoenix and Tucson, my kids really loved seeing the desert.  They were fascinated by the cacti, the mountains, and the animals (my daughter and I even saw an owl on the top of our casita at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess).  So, when we had to choose one attraction to visit during our day in Tucson, we decided on the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum.  It claimed to be part museum, part zoo, and part botanical garden, which seemed to be perfect for someone who needed to choose just one attraction.

We weren’t at all disappointed.  The Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum really appeals to kids and adults, and we had to drag my kids out of there when it was time for us to leave.  We started our morning with the Raptor Flee Flight show, and then wandered around the different gardens.  We saw javelinas, coyotes, hummingbirds, butterflies, otters, bighorns, snakes, owls, and scorpions in just a short amount of time.   The kids also enjoyed learning about these animals as well as the desert itself.  I’d definitely recommend that any family visiting Tucson stop there – it’s definitely worthwhile.

We used to go to Tucson every other year for Christmas and then we’d visit in the summer on the opposite years. I will always remember this museum, something everyone should see. (oh and wear sunglasses, it’s quite bright!!)
