One of my favorite hotels of all time, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort and Spa, is celebrating the Fourth of July this year with their second annual Fourth of July Freedom Fest. The fest includes concerts, fireworks, a presentation of colors, picnics, and more.
From their press release:
Each night of the fest, revelers can dance and celebrate with live music under the stars on the Princess’ Lagoon Lawn. The Freedom Fest tribute concerts, with a patriotic introduction and a fireworks finale, are free for overnight guests or those dining in La Hacienda or BOURBON STEAK. The pre-show is at 8 p.m; the concert is at 8:30 p.m. and the fireworks are at 9:15 p.m.:
- Saturday, June 30: Super Diamond – Capturing the enduring appeal of Neil Diamond, Super Diamond (led by Surreal Neil) performs for audiences around the world, delivering a high-octane show full of sing-along hits such as “Sweet Caroline,” “Forever in Blue Jeans” and appropriately for Freedom Fest, “America.”
- Sunday, July 1: AbbaFab – A tribute to the music of ABBA, this production is a fantastic throw-back to the ‘70s-‘80s, with glitter-rock costumes, sets and popular hits such as “Chiquitita,” “Dancing Queen,” “Waterloo” and “Fernando.”
- Monday, July 2: Paperback Writer – This Beatles experience takes the audience from the Ed Sullivan-era to the “Yellow Submarine” years, playing favorites from the world’s most successful rock group ever including “She Loves You,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “Twist & Shout.”
- Tuesday, July 3: Zowie Bowie – From their Scottsdale roots, they have quickly become one of the most popular acts in Las Vegas, bringing the crowd to their feet with today’s hottest dance, hip hop and Top 40 hits. Featuring Chris Phillips, Marley Taylor and their high-voltage band, they promise a sizzling summer night. This concert concludes with the fest’s 15-minute fireworks finale.
There are also special picnics, fireworks every Saturday (through Labor Day), and even a techno water slide after dark. Visit the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort website for more information.
