While it’s only April, it’s almost time to start planning those summer family vacations. Where will your family go this summer? If you need some inspiration, here are some of my favorite family vacation destinations:
Last month, I had the chance to visit Phoenix as part of the play ball and family fun media trip, and I can’t wait to return. It’s a great destination, and while it’s hot in the summer, the rates are great. Plus, the MLB All-Star game is in Phoenix this July!
Walt Disney World
Of course – there’s no way I would leave this off the list! Walt Disney World is one of, if not THE best, family vacation destinations. The summer is very hot, but there are pools, water rides, and water parks to enjoy and cool off.
Lake Placid/Lake George
Water sports. Relaxed luxury. Old-fashioned family fun. Lake Placid and Lake George will take you back to a time when families vacationed by the lake, free from stress.
New Hampshire/Maine
From Lake Winnipesaukee, to North Conway, to Freeport, Maine, to Storyland, there’s so much to do in the New Hampshire/Maine area. We vacation there at least once per summer, and really enjoy it.
San Diego
With perfect weather and beaches, as well as nearby attractions such as Legoland and Disneyland, there are loads of things to do.

Cape Cod. We go every summer, all the way from California. It’s Norman Rockwell-esque.
I can’t believe I missed Cape Cod! And, I live in Massachusetts! (well, that’s probably WHY I missed it!). Thanks for the suggestion!
We always go camping in the Smoky Mountains!
We just went to Great Wolf Lodge. I know it sounds silly, but for this Seattle girl, 84 • was yummy!
Busch Gardens. We go every year and it is fantastic. Just the right amount of rides, animals and games.
Cape Cod is a dream of mine as well!
